"Danseuse" by Felice Sharp
48" x 36" - mixed media on canvas

About the artist:
"I was raised with the discipline of dance. Leaving dance as an adult left me with a void that was more than physical. After exploring many forms of physical activities, I was introduced to yoga and knew instantly what I was seeking was within this practice. Yoga is a philosophy, a science, and an art. It is also a therapy. I began to develop a positive sense of well-being and a reality that my reaction is the only true armor I have against internal and global crisis.

On September 11th this sense of well-being was deeply shaken and replaced with feelings of chaos. I felt an urgent need for a deeper connection, not just with my inner circle, family and friends, but a more personal connection with purpose and direction in my life. In my new series, I seek to regain harmony not just from a sense of internal balance but an extension of this balance to include the environment within our personal universe. In these paintings, I revisit places and experiences that have brought me joy and peace, and in doing so have regained rhythm in my life." -Felice Sharp

By Wyanne Thompson:
Hope Renewed - 36" x 36" - acrylic and pigments on raw Belgium linen
Before Dawn - 24" x 24" - acrylic and mixed media on canvas

About the artist:
Wyanne Thompson is an American painter whose work is as inspiring as her personal journey. With a BFA from Wesleyan College and graduate studies at the Portfolio Center in Atlanta, she has been a full-time artist for over 30 years. Currently based in Madison, Georgia, Wyanne’s colorful and bold pieces aim to inspire, uplift, and immerse viewers. Her enchanting paintings have captivated collectors worldwide and moved many with her remarkable story.

In late 2013, Wyanne (pronounced Y-Ann) was diagnosed with Stage IV head and neck cancer, despite being a lifelong non-smoker. She underwent extensive surgery, including the complete removal of her tongue and numerous lymph nodes. After enduring months of chemotherapy and radiation, Wyanne relearned to speak, though she will always have impaired speech. Now, 10 years later, she remains cancer-free.

Wyanne views her cancer experience as a transformative gift, propelling her to live life fully and express herself more boldly. Her treatment and survival journey led her to create larger pieces with vibrant colors. Using fluid techniques, she layers transparent colors to create new hues, predominantly painting on raw, unprimed canvas. Inspired by Helen Frankenthaler, she allows her colors to flow, creating a controlled staining effect.

For Wyanne, painting is a form of unhindered communication with the world and a healing force in her life. Her work is a dance between artist and paint, where sometimes the artist leads, and other times the paint takes the lead. With her eyes wide open, she allows colors to interact, light to reflect in the shadows, and energy to vibrate in the stillness. This dance fulfills her life-affirming mission to capture the magic in her work.

"Moved" by Judith Williams
36" x 36" - mixed media on canvas

About the artist:
“I think working with Charcoal is magical. The vine itself is so light it seems as though it is weightless, the dust flies as the sound of its wonderful scratching against the canvas fills the air, and it melts into the canvas so quickly. Figurative work follows me and challenges me. I feel my gift is being able to capture traces of what my imagination lets go of. Then I bring out the best qualities in the lines by giving and taking away, creating a form that is at once ethereal and evanescent. In the end, I hope to create something that keeps pushing me to move forward.” -Judith Williams

Judith Williams is a New York born artist now living in Jacksonville, Florida. She is self-taught, and also studied at SUNY Binghamton in upstate New York in their Studio Arts program with James Bohary and David Shapiro. Painting is a vehicle that Judith has used to overcome many personal obstacles. Art soon became a consistent, reliable healer, a means of expression, and has become a necessary extension of herself. She spends time with her family and long sunny days painting in her Florida studio. Her figurative drawings represent a strong universal appeal. Her charcoal paintings/drawings have been described as charming and innocent. Her work shows glimpses of classical styles mixed with hints of abstraction.

You can find Judith’s work in select galleries across the United States.

About the artist:
Marissa [Mia] Szafran, founder of Mia Malcolm Studio is a furniture designer and award-winning interior decorator who designs the spacious residential interiors of Fortune 500 CEOs, leading Hollywood producers, actors, Olympic athletes, and others throughout California, and across the nation.

Mia has won widespread acclaim for creating unique, environmentally-friendly furniture pieces, each of which is offered with the use of reclaimed wood. She curates a collection of designs from her prestigious client base, and includes them in her furniture line - www.miamalcolm.com

Mia, the mother of two, established her company, Mia Malcolm, around the idea that “furniture is art” while capturing the furniture figure, she adds logic to the luxury lifestyle. She was motivated to launch the company partly by her fearless independence and partly by her artistic instinct and upbringing.

“I grew up with a paint brush in one hand and a hammer in the other. I carried 2 x 4's, helped Dad and my brother Malcolm stand walls, then painted murals to pretty up finished spaces. I grew up seeing the process from start to finish” says Mia, a self-made and self-taught success who was influenced early on by her mother, a designer, and father, a contractor.” She developed that perspective early in her career, when she launched a thriving mural painting business. Later painting for commission on Canvas, leading to a private art collection she has recently licensed with Leftbank Art. Exclusive works from Mia Malcolm Studio are available through out the country in Fine Art Galleries, Neiman Marcus, Horchow and Anthropologie.

Fresh arrival: "Pasture" by Rick Davis
22" x 24" - oil on canvas

Artist statement:
“When I was sixteen, I traveled from Nashville to Los Angeles with my Aunt Lenore, who lived there. She took me to the Painted Desert, Petrified Forest, Carl’s Bad Caverns, and, best of all, the Grand Canyon. I took a whole roll of film. I didn’t know until later that the roll didn’t develop. I’ve come to the conclusion that my affinity for the Grand Canyon is not only its gratuitous beauty but its similarity to architecture.

I painted professionally for about twenty years, doing portraits, landscapes, and still life works. From the 80s to 2001, my work vacillated between realism and impressionism. After a while, I lost my passion for painting and noticed that my quality was dropping due to the fact that art had become a job without passion.

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer seventeen years ago and painted for about another year. I then went to work at Sprintz Furniture and have been there for almost fifteen years.

About four years ago, I visited a friend in Rochester, NY. He took me on a tour around the area, and it inspired me to start painting again. The cliffs especially intrigued me.

Now I’m painting what I want and when I feel like it, but I can tell you this: my passion is back.” -Rick Davis

"Gold Ascent" by Ed Nash
48" x 48" - mixed media on canvas

About the artist:
Ed Nash was born in Letchworth Garden City, England in 1976. Letchworth was built by and designed by Quakers in 1903 and was a focus of the Arts and Crafts Movement. Like several members of the British Post-Impressionist movement who visited, lived and painted in Letchworth, Ed was inspired by the towns amalgamation of urban and rural life and its focus on visual beauty in the town environment, which was really the ideal of the 'Garden City' movement.

At age 13 Ed was awarded an Art scholarship to Bedford School, England which accelerated his passion for art. He then went onto study Fine Art and Psychology at Reading University, England where he graduated with a First Class Honors Degree. Here his work explored social psychology and art. His dissertation was on the affects of the dissembodiment of virtual space on personality.

Ed still explores the world of virtual space, focusing on abstract non-representational work. He currently lives in Nashville TN where he is an Art Dealer, Appraiser and Artist. His work can be found in collections across the US and UK and is represented in galleries in New York an Nashville, TN.

Flowers I, II, and IV by Michael Banks
all 24" x 24" - mixed media on panel

About the artist:
Michael Banks is an artist from Alabama, who knew from the time he was a child that he wanted to be an artist. A self-taught painter, Michael has abandoned tradition on many levels and, in the process, succeeded in achieving a place in the wider world of contemporary American art. His presence has brought excitement to the “folk” genre, creating a bridge for several younger painters to follow. With this development has come a significant increase in demand for his painting. His work is collected by lovers of self-taught art, & by those with an interest in contemporary art, as well.

Michael is deeply creative, with experimentation and resourcefulness always integral parts of his process. His painting of disparate imagery on salvaged boards, using acrylic & enamel with an over-painting of turpentine & tar all add to the intrigue.

"North Galilee" by Chris Segre-Lewis
60" x 66" - oil on canvas

Artist statement:
"Painting and the landscape of the American west have partnered congenially for over two hundred years. Keeping in mind that Kentucky was once the new frontier west of the Allegheny Mountains, the concept of the American West has included a majority of our national landmass. Artists from Thomas Moran to Georgia O’Keefe have enjoyed the vast moonlike spaces that seem to act as a metaphorical canvas for the divine painter. Rivers become lines, fields become geometric shapes, and textures translate in effortless reverie.
These new paintings track my personal fascination with the American West. My interests are focused on the geographical interactions between humans and the land rather than mere romantic allusions. In these paintings I am suggesting the evidence of human movements guided by the sublime and yet spartan allure of the expansive western landscape. As well, I hope to express the spiritual appeal of the west with its grand, perceptually overwhelming vistas that tend to read as God sized marks built upon celestial compositions."

"Once Upon Capri" by Linda Ledet
40" x 30" - oil on canvas

About the artist:
“This compulsion for art is something in me since childhood, before I even knew a word for it. In my room dwelt a world of expression in cutouts and colors—a dreamy child's vivid life. The creative spark. I see, feel, and respond artistically to an experience, place, or someone I visibly see in life, or something emerging from the life of a canvas.

Art is connection... to God, others, myself, wondrous creation, the mystery of life. The Art has me captive in a dance with colors, shapes, motion, light, shadows. Every canvas begins to beat with its own heart. I stand back to see the life and rhythm of the paint. And the story each picture tells.

I sign my paintings "Fidelis," as a prayer to be faithful to God the Creator. I am after a true expression which will be a gift to others, and will take you to amazing places... Welcome to my known and unknown worlds.'“ -Fidelis the Painter

A dedicated oil painter, Linda Ledet has attended classes and workshops at Springhill College in Mobile, Alabama and the University of South Alabama. She has also studied under master artists including Wolf Kahn, Kevin MacPherson, Carolyn Anderson, John Cosby, Dan Gerhartz, Robert Johnson, Kim English, Tom Browning and Ken Backhaus.
