DC is sending Superman back to the beginning.
This September, writer/artist Wes Craig launches SUPERMAN: THE STRANGER, a new 6-issue DC Black Label series that reimagines the Man of Tomorrow’s earliest days in an Art Deco-inspired 1938 Metropolis.
Think Golden Age Superman by way of the classic Fleischer cartoons: bold visuals, corrupt power structures, street-level justice, and a young Clark Kent still figuring out what kind of difference one man can make.
By day, Clark is trying to survive in the big city. By night, he becomes Superman, leaping into action against a Metropolis where the rich keep getting richer, and the poor are left to fend for themselves.
Craig says he was drawn back to the original version of Superman: before the extra powers, before Smallville became central, before the mythology grew so massive. Just a brash young man with impossible strength, taking on a corrupt city because someone has to.
SUPERMAN: THE STRANGER #1 arrives September 2, 2026.
