Nashville Sporting Goods was established in 1945, concentrating mainly on recreational boat sales, as well as fishing and hunting equipment. Nipper purchased the company in 1950 and saw a need for team sporting goods equipment sales. Since that time, NSG Team Sports has become a leader in team sports in Tennessee and in the Southeast. Nipper's business philosophy can be summed up in the following:

Nipper contributes NSG Team Sports success to the great people. One of those key people was his son-in-law, Bob Butler. During his years as President and as leader of the team division, NSG became one of the premier leaders in the South, building a business from the mid-state to regional. Known for hard work, intelligent buying and a keen business mind, Butler took NSG to the top ten in most categories.He embodied and continued the business philosophy that NSG Team Sports is here to provide great customer service and do "whatever it takes" for our coaches and clients.
