For everyone worried about me, I made it to Penland and I’m safe. No injuries on campus. Clearing fallen limbs today. On the upside, it’s a convenient way to hunt for oak galls. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The Awards Committee of the Guild of Book Workers is seeking written nominations for the 2024 Lifetime Achievement and Laura Young Awards.

The Lifetime Achievement Award — This award recognizes significant contribution to the goals of the Guild and to the book arts field at large. Contributions may include areas such examples as education, professional practice, research, or mentorship. We welcome nominations from the larger community of diverse voices and experiences. The award recipient is granted lifetime membership with no obligation to pay dues.

I ask not, “Is thy hope still sure,
Thy love still warm, thy faith secure?”
I ask not, “Dream’st thou still of me? —
Longest alway to fly to me?”

Did you know that Mark Twain wrote love poems? Me neither! This opening stanza is from his 1892 poem titled “Love Song” and it only gets better from there. I highly recommend you find it and read it in its quintessentially Twainian entirety.

You too could write a quirky quatrain for your beloved, beliked, or bemused. You can find them in my online shop. Link thata way! 👆

Well, that’s a wrap! My second Standards was my first as a vendor, and *I’d do it again!* although I didn’t manage to take many photos, apart from a few of my table, and a few to be goofy, all I have are memories and dreams of next year.

Thanks to everyone I met in person for the first time for baring with my fangirling, and also to my dear friends that I get to see less often than I would like.

To those of you who placed orders for paper or a custom mini springback, those are in the works.

And if ANYONE got video of the poetry reading at the reception, please share it with me. 🙏
