Pure Earth Paint

Pure Earth Paint Pure Earth Paint is superior hybrid paint made with a custom blend of minerals, clay, chalk, and earth pigments. Now you’re ready to paint! It will not wash off.

PEP conforms to ASTM D6886 and meets all requirement of Proposition 65 (the California Law) for zero VOC and no toxicity. INSTRUCTIONS FOR PRODUCT USE

Pure Earth Paint, 95% of the time, requires little or no sanding or priming, however, not all substrates are created equal. Remember to carefully examine the piece you are working on and from that you will be able to determine if repairs are needed

or if you in fact have to sand before painting. We recommend cleaning every piece of furniture before you start. Furniture oils (especially Old English Oil and Pledge) can sometimes ruin the best paint finish. We clean our furniture with denatured alcohol or a combination of white vinegar and water. This will loosen the old grime and olds from the furniture while providing “tooth” for paint to adhere to. Pledge has silicone as it’s main ingredient and it sometimes is difficult to paint over. To use denatured alcohol, simple pour onto a clean rag and wipe over your furniture piece. I do this 2 times followed by ½ cup white vinegar to a gallon of water to rinse off any residue left over by the denatured alcohol lifting the grease and grime out of the furniture. Once this is done, let your furniture piece dry thoroughly. Next you will want to do your repairs, sanding, hole filling, etc. You can use simple wood filler or PEP rough texture paste to fill in areas where the veneer had to be removed or nail holes. Note: Although all of our products are NON-TOXIC, ZERO VOC, please do not ingest, paint your tongue, and keep out of the reach of children unless being supervised after all it is still paint. PEP Mineral paint:
Shake or stir your paint well before use. Pour a little into a paint tray or onto a paper plate. A little paint goes a long way. Our paint appears thick but once your brush hits it, it melts like butter. PEP can be rolled, brushed, or sprayed (thinning with approx. 10% water)
Apply your first coat. Let this coat dry (depending on the humidity level, it should dry in approximately 15 - 20 minutes)

If needed, apply a second coat, let dry. Topcoat or wax if desired. Diamond Coat (Topcoat/sealer):
Stir slowly (shaking produces air bubbles)

Pure a little in a paint tray or onto a paper plate. Diamond Coat can be rolled, brushed with a foam brush, or sprayed. Apply your first coat and let dry (approximately 15 – 20 minutes)
Apply a second coat if needed. Only 2 coats should be applied in the first 24 hours, after that you can apply successive coats with drying in between each coat if needed

WAX:
PEP wax is a very light bodied cream wax. Using a clean soft cloth, old sock, or brush apply a VERY THIN layer of wax, in the color of your choice. Let dry (approximately 5 – 10 minutes)

Using a clean soft cloth or old sock you can buff with little effort. No special brushes or drill attachments are required. You do not have to put a layer of clear wax on before using dark wax but, like any new product in your line we recommend that you do a sample board to get use to applying the wax. Luminescence Opaque:
PEP Luminescence is a rich, vibrant, bold, strong, opaque pearlescent gel medium. It is based on the powerful patterns and colors of Italian textile manufacturers. Luminescence Opaque can be painted, stenciled, rubbed, sponged, troweled or applied with your finger on clothing, leather, fabric, wood, walls, canvas, gourds, glass….actually any surface. Very easy to use, Luminescence Opaque gives a shimmer and vibrancy to any ornamentation on furniture, canvas, clothing, or other work of art. The White Luminescence Opaque can have any of the colors of universal tints or mica powders added to it to give endless possibilities of color. Luminescence Opaque can be applied to clothing by brushing or stenciling it on. Add a little glitter over the paint to give it more pizzazz. When sponged lightly it can give a faux Raku look. Paint or sponge on the bottoms of plates so the vibrancy shows through and the plate is totally food safe. The Gold Luminescence Opaque may be used to create a faux gold leaf. Brush on the Gold Opaque, let dry and then go over it with any Colorant to achieve the beautiful variegated gold leaf look. We suggest that Luminescence Opaque be protected with one of our high quality Diamond Coats for the best durability but a topcoat or wax is not necessary but is always recommended for durability. If more working time is desired, add a little of PEP extender for slower drying. Luminescence Translucent:
Glaze is defined as a translucent medium applied to a surface to give a texture, color and depth to it. It is fun and exciting to use as you can create fabulous pieces of art by “layering” the glazes over each other. PEP Luminescence Translucent is similar to a glaze in property and achieves a sophisticated shimmer of metallic by applying it to walls, furniture, woodwork, wood, metal and craft projects, leather, glass, etc. Luminescence Translucent may be used to enhance projects and surfaces with ease. Versatile and easy to use for an Old World look or a modern metallic Deco effect. Use one color or several colors for an interesting shimmer effect. Make all the surface “pop” or just highlight by enhancing edges or raised parts or deep crevices. For a stronger look universal tints or mica powders can be added. This clear, thick, workable glaze can be used on any surface. It adds texture to and keeps texture on the surface, even after drying. PEP Translucent can be used as a clear glaze over an existing basecoat or you may add paint or colorant to make your own color. Great on vertical surfaces as it does not run or sag. Use with sponges, plastic bags, brushes, rags, paper, tissue paper, stencils, kitchen utensils or your finger for different effects. PEP luminescence will hold stamping imprints. If texture is not desired, simply soften with a soft cloth. When desired effect is achieved, let dry and protect with one of PEP Diamond Coat finishes or wax, however top coating is not necessary but is recommended for durability. Fabric Medium:
Fabric Medium is excellent for the textile artist or anyone that wants to paint on fabric. Fabric Prep:

If the fabric is new wash and dry it to remove any sizing from the manufacturer

To Dye fabric using Fabric Medium:

Mix 4 parts water to 1 part fabric medium. Depending on desired intensity, add to the 1 or 2 drops of universal tints OR 2 - 4 drops of Pure Earth Paint into your water/fabric medium mix (you may use a plastic baggie to mix your color)
•Saturate fabric into mixture and squeeze out extra liquid.
•Lay flat; let dry. Tie Dying using multiple colors:
•Bunch fabric and secure with rubber bands for flower appearance
•Dip fabric into several dyes at the same time or dip one color at a time
•Let dry between colors
•When you have achieved your desired design, press with dry iron.
•For best results do not use steam

Variations:
•Brush onto the fabric, do not saturate but make sure the area you are going to paint is covered and let dry before painting or stenciling
•Add designs with stencils; use PEP WAX as resist for dye as first step or for multiple- layer dying
•Use fan brush for fine lines to create a crackling effect
•Stamp image onto fabric using universal tints or Pure Earth Paint
•Paint onto dyed fabric using Pure Earth Paint

Cleans up with soap and water. Gel Medium:
Pure Earth Paint Gel Medium is thick and white but dries clear, it will retain a texture when dry. It can be used as a sealer over dyes, inks, paints, etc. and can be used for texture over paper or paintings. Other uses for Gel Medium include: Glass (you can add colorant or a little PEP paint) to make a “faux” stained glass effect and then layer one of the luminescence metallic on top of it for that added pop. Gel medium is completely machine washable and is great for painting stencils or designs on clothing or other textiles. Experiment!! There are many uses for gel mediums. Try it over a photo to give it that “oil painting” look. Directions for use:
Apply with a brush, foam brush, pallet knife, trowel, or even with fingers. Mix in metallic, paints, universal colorants and/or dyes. Let dry and then protect your fabric with a coat of PEP Diamond Coat. Cleans up with soap and water

Stain and Seal:
Apply with stain pad, soft cloth, or brush

One coat will produce a lighter tone, more coats will provide darker tones. No sealer or topcoat is needed. Rough Texture Paste:
Apply with a pallet knife, fingers, or blade. You can tint with paint to add color. Let dry, glaze, or stain with color of your choice. Can be used for filling wood, embossings, 3d effects

Tackifier – Stencil Adhesive:
Pour a small amount onto a paper plate, using a foam brush or sponge wipe onto the back of the stencil, wait approx. 5 minutes (until tacky) apply to surface to be stenciled. Use soap and water to clean up. Crackle:
Apply with a sponge brush over a dry painted surface. Let crackle dry. If a heavy crackle is desired apply a second coat, let dry. You can vary the size of cracks by cross hatching when applying. Extender:
Add a small amount to any water based medium that needs more open time. Mix well into the medium, start with a small amount and test for drying time.
