This is it, folks!

We're nearing the end of the season here at the garden center, so we're doing one final sale and marking plants down as low as we can go! 😮❗

The sale starts today, October 1st, and runs until our inventory is put away for winter. But don't wait too long! We're already selling out of certain varieties, and once they're gone, they're gone!

This sale is for retail purchases only at our Hiawatha and Nebraska City locations. 🛒

Our rule of thumb is that you can plant anytime before the ground freezes, however, right now we're in a sweet spot! 🍁

The soil is still warm, the air has cooled off, and new perennials and shrubs can settle in without much babysitting. They spend the next few weeks building roots, and they come back next year tougher and fuller for it.

Swipe through for why we love fall planting, plus a few tips to get your new plants through winter. What's on your fall planting list?

If you’ve ever visited an event of ours, chances are you’ve had some of Doug’s homemade ice cream churned by his father’s Farmall H tractor. Here’s a little behind the scenes look at what it takes to whip up a batch of ice cream!

This time, Doug wanted to experiment, so he used maple syrup that was collected from our Oregon Trail Sugar Maple (also known as the Hiawatha Maple!) that we have patented and sell.

Very cool and as always, very delicious! 😋

This one is for our K-State fans! 😉💜

Beautyberry puts on quite the show in late summer and fall, with clusters of bright purple berries that pop against the foliage. Not only is it pretty to look at, but those berries can also provide a food source for birds!

One variety we're loving is Pearl Glam® Beautyberry from Proven Winners. Its deep purple foliage adds interest throughout the growing season, followed by delicate white flowers in summer and vibrant purple berries in fall.

Consider adding this one to your landscape for a little extra purple this fall! 🌿

A big tree project is underway! 🌳👨‍🌾

If you haven't strolled through Morrill lately, be sure to take a look! We're planting more than 60 trees as part of a new canopy restoration project. For every diseased, damaged, or structurally unsafe tree removed, two new trees are being planted in its place.

We're proud to be part of a project that will help keep Morrill beautiful and growing for years to come. It's always exciting to see our local communities investing in their trees!

We’ve got 10 days straight of chances of rain, so Greg’s boogying to get some seed in the ground!

5-way fescue is the prime choice for this yard with the Land Pride® | Implements & Attachments seeder pulled by our trusty John Deere

Stick around and maybe we’ll share an update once the seeds start to sprout! 👀

Catching our eyes in the garden center this week 👀

Ornamental Onion - This 'Medusa' variety is an absolute pollinator magnet and is performing well even through all of our high temps we've had lately!

Hardy Pampas Grass - You can't tell from the picture, but this grass is HUGE at about 8 foot tall. The plumes are eye-catching as they almost sparkle in the sunlight.

Winterberry - 'Berry Heavy' Winterberry has been standing out in the garden for weeks with it's bright red berries. Would be a great addition to a landscape if you're in need of some unique fall interest!
