Nature's Own Nederland In 1986, geologist Roy Young opened Nature's Own (a science & nature store) in Nederland CO. We also ask every customer to use our hand sanitizer.

We require customers and staff to wear masks that cover nose and mouth at all times in the store. Neck gaiters, buffs, mask with air vents, and bandanas are not allowed as a substitute for a surgical or double-layered cloth mask. We have free gloves and surgical masks for customers who need them.

Roy Young opened Nature's Own Nederland to share his love of geology and earth science and to raise money for environmental non-profits he supported.
Roy passed away after an illness and complications from surgery on Thursday, March 19, 2026.
Our hearts are broken but Nature's Own in Nederland and Fort Collins are open to continue his mission and support the work of Idea Wild, the Turtle Survival Network, the Rainforest Action Network and Wild Earth Guardians and others.
We appreciate your patience if tears are shed when you visit.

We'll start our winter hours tomorrow. We'll be open from 10 am until 5 pm every day except for Thanksgiving, Christmas and possibly New Year's Day.

There is no parking in Nederland because of more than 50” of snow. We will be closed Friday, 3/15/24. We are not sure if we will open tomorrow (Saturday. 3/16/24). It depends.
