Want to get your kids excited about an everyday trip to the market? Give them their own shopping basket! Small African Market Baskets are just $30 and are perfect for kids.

Need more reasons to give your children their own small shopping basket? Scroll the carousel!

Our baskets feature a thick leather-wrapped central handle. This soft, rounded grip fits comfortably in small hands without digging in or slipping, making it much easier for young children to carry independently.

Plastic bags collapse and tote bags flop over, making it frustrating for young children to get items in and out. A woven market basket maintains a sturdy, open shape that sits flat on the floor, allowing toddlers and young kids to easily pack, carry, and unpack items themselves.

Our baskets are multi-functional beyond the market. Use as storage for wooden blocks, play food, or art supplies. Kids can also use them for pretend shopping, treasure hunts, apple picking, or garden harvesting.

Our Bolga baskets are woven from tough elephant grass, so they are virtually indestructible: kids can drop them, sit on them, or drag them through the dirt without ruining the frame. They can also be rinsed off – they are made from river grass after all!

Keep the kids occupied! When they are carrying a basket they are more involved in shopping.

Let your kids choose the produce, and teach them where our food comes from.

"Let's count all the red apples!" Practice counting and colors with small children.

Trust us. 😁 Trips to the Farmer's Market and grocery store are less chaotic when the kids have their own basket.

October is Fair Trade Month, and Fair Trade is about much more than just fair wages. It is a comprehensive framework designed to protect workers, empower communities, and safeguard the environment.

We founded our nonprofit, Weaving Hope Together, to help alleviate day-to-day hardships in Bolgatanga. Weaving Hope Together, funds healthcare access for thousands of weavers and their families in and around Bolgatanga, Ghana.

Since 2006, we've organized several insurance registration days every year, where people arrive from surrounding villages and we coordinate with health officials to get their pictures taken and their info entered into the national system.

Knowing how crucial healthcare is to the weavers and their families, these are some of the most anticipated and important events of the year for Weaving Hope Together.

Mesmerizing Artistry.

Women weavers in Ghana transform simple reeds of Elephant Grass into intricately patterned baskets. Zoom in. It's so impressive!

Bolga Baskets are truly an art form; weavers will make roughly 25,000 tight knots or weaves by hand to complete one basket.

African Market Baskets has worked with women in Ghana since 1985. And we still marvel at every one of their handwoven masterpieces.
