I made over 50 tintype gems for Art at The Park, Appleton. The art show is this weekend, July 25-26, at City Park. Gems are real tintype photographs but very tiny! They measure about 2x3 inches. Only $25 each and they usually sell out so come early!

It was a hot and smoky day... at the Manitowoc County Historical Society - Museum and Pinecrest Village We got a start at using the historic wet plate collodion process to document just a small part of the museum. It has been 4 hours and some of the tintypes are still not dry - so humid. Here are just a couple of our images in the drying trays. We are so thankful to the wonderful staff for their warm welcome and support!

Sun and Silver.photo is on the road tomorrow (Wednesday). We will be at the Manitowoc County Historical Society - Museum and Pinecrest Village creating tintype images. We will be doing both interior and exterior plates of the historic buildings in the museum. It will be a beautiful, albeit still pretty warm, day at Pinecrest Village. Visit the museum and look for our little red darkroom trailer. We would love to demonstrate the wet plate collodion process for you! We will be there 10:00 until early afternoon.

There is always a thrill when your wet plate portrait emerges. The planning, the posing, the chemical preparation all come together and I never get tired of seeing the reveal. Here is a tintype of Kara Star from our experimental work in June. This 6x8 tintype was created in camera and used the original negative.

We're at the height of outdoor wet plate portrait season but always room for more clients. Message me and we can do your own tintype reveal!

It is always a joy when a tintype comes together! This stunning 6x8inch tintype of Emm is magnetically mounted in a hand made frame. The beauty of the rough pine is enhances by the ancient Shou sugi ban finish.

35 Gem Tintypes on a Table... my artistic composition of the day! Getting ready for the Art at The Park show, July 25 & 26, Appleton. I will have around 50 gem & artist trading card sized tintypes available. These tiny 2 1/2 x 3 inch images are real tintypes made with the wet plate collodion process. A fun variety of images created from film and digital negatives. Most are from my work and travels but I include a few historic images and fantasy compositions. Another "Pearltone" which is a wet plate collodion print on white aluminum. Pearltones are produced in camera using the collodion process and a film or digital negative. The original negative for this print dates back to around 1890.
