Did you know that nationwide, 1 in 3 households relying on food pantries includes a senior citizen?

This National Senior Citizens Day, we celebrate the wisdom that grows in every chapter of life—a lifetime of stories, experiences, and a legacy of wisdom that enriches our entire community.

At St. Vincent de Paul and Vinnie’s Pantry, we honor every senior citizen who volunteers, donates, or receives services from us. Each plays a vital role in our community, and today, we celebrate them.

With fixed incomes and rising costs, many seniors face difficult choices every month. Because of the generosity of our community, we can help ensure our local seniors have access to nutritious food, support, and the dignity they deserve.

Thank you for helping us care for our neighbors at every stage of life.

VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH: MIKE CLOCHESY

This month, we’re proud to shine the spotlight on Mike Clochesy, a dedicated volunteer who has been serving with St. Vincent de Paul Neenah-Menasha and Vinnie’s Pantry for the past two years.

Mike first got involved after his friend Greg encouraged him to volunteer, knowing that Mike’s personality would be a perfect fit. We’re certainly glad he did!

If you see Mike at Vinnie’s Pantry, you might see him calling numbers, coordinating volunteers, stocking, or working in the hygiene room. But Mike does so much more behind the scenes.

He helps coordinate coverage and makes sure we are prepared to open our doors for each pantry session. From making sure we have enough volunteers to making sure things are stocked and ready, Mike is one of the people helping make the pantry run smoothly before our guests even walk through the doors.

❤️ What keeps Mike coming back?

Mike says it’s the people. He especially loves working alongside the staff, fellow volunteers, and the residents of Neenah-Menasha and being part of our community.

One experience that stands out to him is hearing from the many elderly neighbors who take the time to tell him how much they appreciate him. Those moments remind Mike just how meaningful his service is.

And when asked what he wishes more people knew about St. Vincent de Paul, Mike put it beautifully:

“We’re all volunteers.”

Hundreds of people come together through our helpline, thrift store, Vinnie’s Pantry, and all of our programs to support neighbors in need. It’s our community coming together to take care of our community.

Mike, thank you for two years of showing up, serving others, coordinating behind the scenes, and being part of what makes Vinnie’s Pantry and St. Vincent de Paul Neenah-Menasha so special.

We are incredibly grateful for your service, dedication, and heart for our community.

Congratulations, Mike, on being our Volunteer of the Month!
