So I was on one of NGCs chat rooms last night. And I got kicked off. But before I share this with you. I'd like to answer a comment made that seams this go's further then one once thought. This will make sent to you after you take the time to read it. And if you get a chance and wish to comment about this you may feel free to do so here or even go to NGC chat room and do so. You can even read more there.
So as to the administrator that said "all I paid was the return postage". To that I ask her, does it cost $1300.00 to mail 15 coins from Florida to Utah? Because that is what I had to pay to have my coins returned to me. Upgraded. Here is my comment to NGC and anyone else who was in the chat room. Feel free to share this.. And as all ways, God Bless.

I started this so I'll go first. I started with NGC a little over a year ago. So my one year subscription is over. On my last submission to NGC I was having trouble making ends meet do to Covit. So when my submission was ready I didn't have the funds to cover it. I called NGC and let then know my situation. They told me no problem that they would hold on to it tell I could pay. That was cool to me. So every week I'd call NGC and let them know I was doing my best to get the money together for them. It took one month. With 4 phone calls to them weekly. I felt so relieved that I was able to keep my promise to NGC and had them paid if full. They told me thanks and that they'll mail my submission to me straight away. The day came and I was excited about it like anyone of us are. Me more so knowing this struggle to pay. The box was the same kind I've received in the past from NGC. But when I opened it it was not slabs that I saw. They where my coins but in plastic folds. Upgraded and no paperwork. My heart hit the floor. The next day I called to find out what happened. They told me I couldn't pay so they removed all my coins from the slabs took my grades away and sent them back only after I paid. I then told them I did pay for them and that I was in contact with them. This made me live the nightmare over again about not being able to make the payment. So NGC told me it was my fault and did not offer any form of reimbursement. I would have been happy with just sending them back. But apon me asking for some kind of making this right. NGC shot me down. They keep my money that I struggled to get for a service that did not, would not do for a paid member of NGC. I did not pay for another year after that.

Why is it so difficult for the average person to cell coins online for there respective prices? We see on a weekly basis the online auctions. With the big auction house names. We all know them and enjoy watching and being a part of them. On a continuing weekly basis there's bosting on new price records. Records set by these auction house's. Why is that? When seldom you hear of a record being broken in an online sale that isn't big auction house name. Well there is several reasons for this. There audience is one of the biggest reasons. Asablished and trusted names with insurances and guarantees that you'll get what your paying for. This reason alone brings in the real money. Not just peace of mind that you won't be taken advantage of. But alot of corporations with investment budgets won't even look at your coin without insurances in place. Here is the problem with that for us the regular collector. There putting the prices of there coins well above fare market value. So that if you were to make a purchase from a big auction house you couldn't sell or even value it at the price you paid. Insurance company's love this. (Unless they end up paying out) But we will save that topic for a later date.
After paying for your purchase through a big auction house your purchase is only (in most cases) truely worth a fraction of the real value. We all see and desire to be a part of these auctions. But the regular collector will go broke trying to compete with corporate investors. So that pushes us to hunt sites like this one. Or even eBay and so on. We are forced to take our chances with uninsured and unastablished business and sites to do what we love. And at a reasonable price. And yes we greatly increase our risk of being taken advantage of. Here is a good example of what I'm trying to get across. Let's say you sit in a chair and for some reason it breaks and you find yourself on the floor. Do you go through your life never sitting in chairs because of this? Now I know we are not talking about chairs but your hard earned money. It's the trust issue that plegs this hobby. And for good reason. With no answer to this problem and as a online coin buyer & seller. My advice would be to set a spending amount for any of your uninsured online purchases. Generally I tell people to set it at what you can risk losing with out hurting you financially. So if the chair does happen to break you can still sit down in another. I have found that the best way to get the fare market value out of your coins is to 1) do your research on the coins your interested in purchasing.
2) go to shops and coin shows. Pawn shops seem to provide a real good venue for your coin collecting.
3) remember why you got into the hobby. Have fun and enjoy yourself. Talk to others and share your experiences and coins with others. Doing this with will enrich your desire for the hobby. And you help greatly insure that the chair does not break.

Happy hunting to all
And God bless.

Hello and how are you doing?
SMS, means "special mint set". Mint & Proof sets can be found in coin shops, ordering from the mint, many places on line including eBay. But those are mint-proof sets. Don't get me wrong. There are lots of SMS sets out the for sale. And those special sets where issued 1965,66 & 67. No proof sets where issued for those years and only sold to collectors. The 5 coins "50c 25c 10c 5c & 1c" all came in a box. Well, 1966 & 67 did. 1965 came in a wrap as did pre 1965s. The coins in these SMS sets where hand picked off the line for these sets. And with no mint-marks placed on coins of those years. We have an upset in our grading practices of at least those 3 years. Prices & available for the coins from in those sets at high MS are favorable. But here is the catch. When you buy online and in all the shops I've been in. When buying sets especially SMS they're 87% already picked of the set and replaced with regular ones of that year. Remember no mint markes or proofs. Any uncirculated coin of that year can be represented as SMS when not. Always by from trusted people and always know your
coins. Here is a SMS 1966 set with MS67 through out with the nickel at MS66.
