A few weeks ago, I received a text message from someone I hold in the highest regard—not only in this business, but in life itself.
John Bickford, Jeff Gordon's stepfather, reached out to me from California while attending the funeral of a longtime family friend. After her husband's passing, the man's wife asked John if he could help find a way to sell a small collection of her late husband's motorsports memorabilia, with every dollar raised benefiting Jeff Gordon Children's Hospital.
To say I was honored that John thought of me would be the biggest understatement ever. I immediately told him it would be an absolute privilege.
The collection itself is small—everything fit into a single medium-sized box—but the meaning behind it is immeasurable. These aren't just collectibles; they're pieces of a fan's passion (and a Jeff Gordon family friend) that will now help make a difference in the lives of children and their families.
In the next week or two, we'll be offering this special collection through our MotorSportsAuctions WhatNot channel. Every item sold will help support Jeff Gordon Children's Hospital, and we hope this community will come together to honor one fan's legacy while giving back to an incredible cause.
