Last week the City of Neptune Beach was served a 57 page lawsuit filed on August 19, 2026 by Saint John's County resident Jack Sminkey.

Sminkey is seeking compliance with Florida Statute Chapter 119 and seeking entry of a writ of Mandamus because the city selectively refused to answer 22 out of 50 questions Sminkey asked in a public records request. The questions are found in exhibit "A" and "B" of the lawsuit.
