Wednesday morning at the flea market started off a little on the cool side, both weather wise and picking wise, but with some diligent pounding of the pavement, I managed to grab a few goods. First picture at the top, is a Stanley No. 148 Type 1 with the patent date tongue & groove plane in decent shape, a long and thin bladed Issac Greaves 1 1/2" chisel, a neat small wooden stitching or sewing clam, a leather stitching awl to add to the pile, a Stanley No. 51 spokeshave, a Stanley No. 64 spokeshave, both need some cleaning, but both still have a fair amount of blade left, a 1 3/4" wedge for a smaller infill plane, a no name chisel grabbed just for the handle which are in short supply here, a Vlchek 7 oz ball peen hammer head, a pair of solid handle screwdrivers (I forget the maker of those guys), and 5 small wooden handled turnscrews, the bigger one being a Sargent. In the second photo, there is a set of 18 gunstock checkering tools in all kinds of shapes and sizes. A lot look to be user crafted and they need a wee bit of cleaning, but sets like this are few and very far between. All in all, not too bad for a morning's work.

Sunday at the flea market, the vendor count was down, because the weather forecast had been on the iffy side for rain. But that did hold off and I got a few goodies. Up top is a Stanley SW No. 16 12" mitre square in fairly good shape, an uncommon T Slack No. 3, 3/16" brace auger bit, a long 1" brace auger bit, seven twist drill bits for a brace (I haven't checked for duplicates yet), a small hand forged farriers clinch anvil, an 8" draw knife, no maker's mark just yet, but it's fairly clean, 3 leather stitching awls, a small hand forged claw hammer, and a neat 1 lb cross peen hammer. Not a great batch, but it will do.

Wednesday morning at the flea market was cool (54F), but no wind, and lots of sunshine. Pickings were okay. Up top is a signed body for a wooden D router plane that needs some work, an anvil paperweight dated 1965, a pair of pads for a wooden chairmaker's brace, one turnscrew and one lipped auger, a Stanley No. 199 utility knife, a pair of screwboxes or wood threaders, 1/2" and 5/8", unfortunately, I didn't get the taps, a Stortz Phila slate roofing hammer with the stacked leather washer handle, a set of 12 small carving tools, 2 pairs of Japan cornering tools, and a NOS wooden numerical drill bit holder. Nothing fantastic, but a decent run of tools.

Early Hand Forged Wheelwrights Traveler. Measuring 13 7/8" long, the wheel is 7" in diameter, and this weighs 14 1/4 oz unboxed. Not signed as to the maker. This is in decent condition and was cleaned. The wheel has some overall pitting and patina. The handle has some lighter stuff going for the most part. The wheel has an index mark at the one joint and it does spin freely. This ain't pristine, but even so, it sure ain't bad, and examples like this are sure getting harder to come by. Price is $50.00 plus US Shipping only via Priority Mail at the 1 - 2 lb rate and is not included in the price. Item prices and shipping costs are firm. Send me a PM (Message). PayPal only.

Set 3 W Butcher Cast Steel Plow Plane Irons. The sizes are 1/8", 1/4", 5/16", the tangs are 5/8" wide, and they weigh 10 1/2 oz unboxed. These are in decent condition and were cleaned. There is some frosting and spots of pitting on the tangs. The steel cutting faces have a few small spots of pitting and some staining. I did take down a little mushrooming on 1/4" and the 5/16" has a wee bit as well. These ain't minty, but they sure ain't getting any easier to come by either. Price is $30.00 plus USPS Ground Advantage Shipping of $10.95. Item prices and shipping costs are firm. Send me a PM (Message). PayPal only.

[SOLD] Sargent Sandusky No 626 3/16 Inch Center Bead Molding Plane. This weighs 13 oz unboxed. This was made by the Sandusky Tool Co for Sargent. This is in good condition and was not cleaned, other than to pretty up the iron a touch. The body is good other than a little staining. This is fully boxed and that is good and the sole is straight. The mouth is factory tight. The iron is clean on the face other than a little frosting and the wedge is also good. This is not a common size for one of these guys and definitely not in this kind of shape. Price is $28.00 plus US Priority Mail Shipping of $13.95. Item prices and shipping costs are firm. Send me a PM (Message). PayPal only.

[SOLD] Wi******er No 4991 1 1/2 Inch Flush Paring Chisel. Measuring 8 9/16" from the edge to the end of the socket, the blade is 5 1/16" long, and this weighs 11 oz unboxed. This is in reasonably good condition and was cleaned. The back has some frosting and spots of light pitting, along with some light dings up by the socket. The top has more of the same. The edge is fairly good, but will need a touch up. The socket has some frosting and I did take off a little mushrooming off of the end. This will need a handle, I don't have any here that fit. This ain't pristine, but these guys are sure few and far between any more. Price is $28.00 plus USPS Ground Advantage Shipping of $11.95. Item prices and shipping costs are firm. Send me a PM (Message). PayPal only.

This is a compilation of flea market finds from the past weekend and on Wednesday, so here we go. Up top on the left, there are a pair of Stanley No. 50 combination plane bodies, a fence for I guess a Stanley No. 45. a Stanley Yankee No. 30A screwdriver in the original box that just needs a little TLC, a nearly full set of Stanley No. 50 plane blades in the original box, a set of 3 plow plane irons, a Perfect Handle screwdriver with the wrench flats, up top is an uncommon H. Chapin Union Factory No. 169 5/8" fully boxed table or rule joint round plane, a really clean Sargent (made by Sandusky) No. 626 3/16" center bead plane, a C Nickum hand forged stone mason dressing hammer head that got "powerwashed", a C. Hammond Phila No. hewing hatchet, a Wi******er 1 1/2" paring chisel that needs the crappy handle replaced, and up top on the right an early Rose West Phila leather knife, and a wooden draw gage for leather work with hand forged hardware that needs some restoration. Kind of an eclectic mix, but still a decent run of tools.
