This one’s been a long time coming. Poison-Native Tongue
Released in 1993, it was Poisons 4th album. Like a lot of hard rock released in the 90’s, this album unfairly got mostly lost in a sea of grunge.
This album also marked a period of unrest for the band as guitarist CC DeVille was fired and 22 yr old up and comer Richie Kotzen was brought in to take over guitar duties. Richie brought a more mature, bluesy sound to the band. His contributions to the songwriting and vocals are very apparent if you know Richie’s work.
Two singles from the album charted, which was a bit of a rarity for a band from the 80’s hard rock scene.
I’ve included several pictures of a Native Tongue press kit that I got from Crash Crafton before his untimely passing. He was one of the biggest Richie Kotzen fans I ever knew. The promo cassette is still sealed.
Happy to finally have the vinyl to put with it.
If you’ve never listened to this album, give it a listen. It’s a sleeper in the Poison catalog.
