THE RIDGE TAPESTRIES :: Event & Book Signing this Friday Oct 23rd. We will have prints & books for sale at the event.

Stories of the San Juan Ridge Stitched into History

Environmental awareness, and community building intertwine to create a vibrant narrative. Immerse yourself in these rich tapestries where each thread illustrates the intricate patterns of life on the San Juan Ridge

The book is a 200 page full-color coffee-table book with 12 fold outs, one for each tapestry,
explanation of the design and stitching processes by Marsha Stone, Jennifer Rain Crosby, and Mary Moore. Writings by central community members in the tapestries, including: Mike Getz, Hank Meals, Jerry Tecklin, David Tecklin, Kurt Lorenz, Caleb Dardick, Bruce Boyd, Doc Dachtler, Holly Tornheim, Jacquie Bellon, Jeff Gold, Boyd Johnson, Barbara Getz, Azriel Lamarca, and Jason Danielson. Occasional prose contributed by Gary Snyder.

About the Authors:

Jennifer Rain Crosby – Designer and illustrator of the tapestry series: Jennifer moved to the San Juan Ridge in 1975 and was shaped into a multimuse artist by this community of creatives. She is best known for her landscape oil paintings and book illustrations, Jeremy and the Mantis and Pssst…Means I Love You. Jennifer is also a writer, sculptor.

Jason Danielson – Introduction, book editor: After graduating from Stanford University, Jason had a forty-five-year career in Silicon Valley developing digital technologies and solutions for broadcast and film visual effects, video serving, and computer animation. He knew he wanted to be part of the Ridge at his first May Day celebration in 1979 when he felt a palpable and life-altering sense of community. He has written two books of poetry. Jason maintains a conservation easement over the Governor’s Trail, an essential link between two Ridge neighborhoods

Acknowledgments

Jennifer Rain Crosby designed the panels. Her cartoons (illustrations) imbue the tapestries with their indelible spirit.

It’s here! The 2026 mid-term election voter guide! Our best (collectively gathered) selections to hopefully shift the tides 🌊🌊🌊. Ballots vary from town to town, but we tried to get it all on here + some extra stuff that may not apply to your district.

We recommend NOT mailing your ballot, but dropping it in one of our many ballot boxes (the sooner the better!) before Nov 3rd.

Do with it it what you will, and by all means do your own research. Feel free to leave (respectful) comments! We may not respond, but it helps voters.

(Link in bio has more voter info & support)

Heartbreaking news about a friend and someone who’s art we carried in the shop. 💔💔💔

Repost from Lise Silva Gomes (see post for her full caption) - link to donate in our bio and hers:

💔Forever heartbroken to share the loss of Noël

Noël was the brightest and boldest heart-led lover, sharp and true, steadfast and shiny as a Brass Arrow. Her expansive creative vision touched fabric, ink, beads, thread, and paint with her language of deeply personal symbology. Over the years, as a caregiver and protector, Noël generously gave her time, energy, voice, resources, and opened her home to those in need.

When she was diagnosed in 2021, the outpouring of immense love, hope, and support was a mirror reflecting the love she had always poured into the world. That community offering lifted her wings and kept her soaring beyond the boilerplate prognosis of stage 4 cancer. With our friend Gina we pledged to only exchange positive, life-affirming words. Mind over matter, she chose life.

As a cancer survivor, against all odds, she inspired strength and grace. She transformed 6 months into 5 years. The intense challenges she faced along the way never cracked her spirit. She taught us a masterclass in optimism, faith, and single-minded determination through her presence and devotion to her child, her art, and voice.

Noël was a channel of indomitable Leo magic, forever emblazoned on our hearts.

“If you are truly wild at heart, you will fight for your dreams”

🏹♌️❤️‍🔥🕯️🌙

⛓️ There are ways you can celebrate Noël’s memory in my bio ⛓️

1. Help us lay Noël to rest according to her wishes

2. Upload a Google doc with story of Noël or wish for her family, a video or a photo of Noël, her work, or you wearing/with her creation to the Brass Arrow Archive

3. Listen to the playlist I made of songs and artists she loved & sharing her love of romantic 50’s and 60s music, remembering her spirit by lighting a candle or making an offering. (Some of these songs were on her birthing playlist)

Mutual friends who want to attend the funeral remotely (streaming), please message me for a link
