Welcome and greetings in the name of our Lord and soon returning Conquering Messiah King, Jesus Christ. Prophecy! The mere mention of the word causes many people, including Christians, a profound sense of fear and confusion. Others say prophecy is too complicated or weird to understand so why bother? Still, there are those that do not explore prophecy because they consider it irrelevant or unimportant. Additionally, there are no shortage of posts on the net that seem to say that the world is about to end or that Jesus is coming next Tuesday. They are sadly mistaken and biblically ignorant. They lend credence to the false belief that prophecy cannot be known. Those who consider themselves students of prophecy believe the exact opposite is true. When God created mankind, He gave him the faculties of reason, discernment, and comprehension. When Jesus does come, He will make wrongs right, He will bring health and prosperity, and finally, He will bring true complete peace such has not been seen since the failure of Adam and Eve. How is that anything other than hopeful?
In order to truly understand Bible prophecy, we must understand its context. If we trust God’s word to be true regarding the forgiveness of sins and the promise of life everlasting, it is illogical not to believe in what it says about that which is yet to come. Bible Prophecy is built on this one foundation, God drafted His plan before the world was created and it is working out in His timing (Isiah 46:9-10). Furthermore, this plan revolves around His son Jesus as the Messiah. Jesus’ story began when He came as a baby, continued throughout His ministry, crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension. The good news is His story doesn’t end there. Jesus Himself said He will return (John 14:1-3)! However, the Bible also says it will get worse before it gets better. The Bible is very clear on what will happen, who it affects, a timeline from beginning to end. The only thing that is not given is a start date. Jesus also charged His followers to be on the watch for certain signs (Luke 21:28) which is why we need to be ready at all times. With all that said, there are two obvious questions that present themselves. One, where does a person new to the study of Bible Prophecy start, and two, how do individual topics relate to each other. Albert Einstein is credited with the following quotation, “If you can’t explain it (any subject) simply, you don’t understand it well enough.” The Tapestry of Prophecy was written to answer those questions. The Tapestry of Prophecy weaves together most of the current teachings into a single, easy to read resource. It follows the prophetic thread from Genesis through Revelation from a pre-tribulation Rapture point of view. It was compiled from drawing on the wisdom and teachings of the current best and most well-known Bible prophecy teachers. It’s a sort of introduction to Bible Prophecy 101.
