Our favorite thing about being a record store is that we’re able to be more than that!

Welcoming Lighthouse Animal Shelter to the shop yesterday to find puppies forever homes in our local community is the bread and butter of why we started this shop. Music truly brings us all together.

That’s right, Management has decided to host some rescue pups from Lighthouse Animal Shelter at the shop! 😍

Your usual weekend stop by the record store plus puppy love?! Say less.😎

Pups will be in-store from 3pm to 5pm during our normal business hours. All ages welcome! If you have furry friends of your own, we ask that you please leave them at home when you visit so our special guests can get all the attention!🥰

We will also donate 5% of all sales during the event back to Lighthouse! Their all-volunteer organization does so much for our community and our furry friends, so we’re excited to help out! 🐾

We thought we’d beat the “🏳️‍🌈gay record store🏳️‍🌈” allegations by…well…being even gayer!

That’s right, the first big event we’re hosting in our Downtown New Bedford space will be an all-analogue drag show! Spinning records AND spinning queens?! Now that’s a physical media mashup made in heaven.

Our legendary local lineup will include Samonwebcam, Ren / Indigo Skullone, Betweenya Lipz, and Cj Rodriguez!

Doors open at 8pm. Show starts at 8:30pm sharp. 21+. Tickets are LIMITED, so visit our website via the link in our bio to reserve your spot!

A few weeks ago, we got a message that wasn’t our favorite but that sadly isn’t new or unique to us.

We waited before publicly addressing it so that our thoughts didn’t come out reactive or jumbled.

Simply put — our motto is in our logo — ‘Vinyl. Music. Community.’ It means just what it says.

Yes — I am a gay man. Yes — I talk about this openly and incorporate it into the brand and business. Yes — it is important. No — I won’t explain why because I shouldn’t have to.

We are sharing this exchange to remind people that while there is ugliness in the world we are working hard every day to create a record store that drowns all that out. Whether it’s the beats or just the love of visiting a place where you can be authentically you, we hope Record High continues to be that for many spins to come.
