We were proud to be a sponsor for last week’s Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce annual leadership event, “Beyond the Playbook,” at Hotel Marcel, featuring Tom Moore, General Manager of UConn Men's Basketball, and Joe Loth, Head Football Coach at Southern Connecticut State University.

Both Tom and Joe shared inspiring perspectives and practical strategies for achieving success—insights we were excited to bring back to our own team. For 78 years, the Barnum Festival has been one of Connecticut’s most treasured traditions, bringing communities together to celebrate the legacy of P.T. Barnum while promoting civic pride, philanthropy, local businesses, and family-friendly events throughout the Greater Bridgeport region. The Festival continues to inspire generations through parades, concerts, community service, and celebrations that unite neighboring towns. Each year, a new Ringmaster is appointed, with a role involving not only the coordination of all the events, but also finding their own formal wear to follow the tradition that has been set.

At Valentino Tailors, it was an incredible honor to work with this year’s Barnum Festival Ringmaster, Tom McCarthy. Tom’s lifelong dedication to the Bridgeport community and his commitment to carrying on this cherished tradition make him the perfect ambassador for this historic festival. We had such a great time working closely with Tom, and his colleague and long time festival volunteer, Elaine Ficarra, to measure, design and fit this unique Ringmaster jacket, in the perfect shade of red, and black waistcoat, both in a lightweight Italian wool. We also fitted Tom for a made to measure dress shirt and provided alterations for his riding pants. We loved their excitement throughout the process, and appreciated the Connecticut Post stopping in our shop to cover this story and share more insight on our unique craft and services.

All of the Festival events over this Summer looked to be a huge success! Congratulations, Tom McCarthy, and thank you to the Barnum Festival for allowing us to be a small part of such a meaningful Connecticut tradition!
