I spent last week at Art Quilting Midwest in Warrensburg Missouri. I took a class from Kevin Womack on using color theory to experiment with how thread color and density change the perceived color depending on the color of fabric it’s stitched onto. I have done some color theory lessons before with other mediums (dye, paint, etc), but this was super fun. 4 1/2 days of free motion quilting also really helped me improve those skills as well. I had 4 great classmates also and the entire group of artists were amazing! Thank you Kevin Womack and Art quilt Midwest!

Congratulations Lt. Evan Pilch!!!

Ed and I had the honor of attending Evan’s graduation from Officer Basic Leadership Course (IBOLC). He is now officially a 2nd Lieutenant, and was named to the Commandant’s list. 19 very long weeks away from his kids and home, but he made it! We are very proud of you Evan Samuel! ❤️

Since only a few of my friends were able to make it to the Fiber Arts Exhibit in Washington, here are my pieces (coming down today). I would love to know your thoughts. I could have done a better job hanging them (I would have loved to have the three smaller pieces together), but with only an 8’ space, I did the best I could on the fly. Several techniques are included in these pieces. Do you have a favorite? Which one?

This beauty is nearly done!
Here is a sneak peek!
✅ designing and printing fabrics and layout. ✅ washout and prepare hand printed fabrics for piecing.
✅ Pieced quilt top (and back).
✅ pieced batting to accommodate this 120” x 116” quilt.
✅ quilt longarmed by Quilters Paradise and returned.
✅ quilt trimmed, binding made and sewed to the quilt.

All that is left is to finish the binding, quilt and assemble the pillow shams and put a label on her and they will be ready for delivery! It has been a long process but I can’t wait to show her off (after the client receives her)!
