HELLO, I’M STILL ALIVE! I think I’m well overdue for a business/life update!
Many of you who followed my 2025 journey know my husband and I bought a historic house in New Orleans in August and started doing hardcore renovations, mostly ourselves. We moved into a sectioned off part of the house in December while we worked on more of the house that was gutted, and sold our old house.
Since we moved, I haven’t had a workbench or really any motivation to make jewelry. The price of silver was skyrocketing and I hoped it would come down (news flash, it’s still hella expensive 😭).
I also felt completely burnt out from social media, constantly putting my blood, sweat, and tears into my work and having barely ANYONE ever see it. Sales had plummeted. Inflation has been hurting everybody. Y’all get the point. You’ve probably heard the same story from a ton of your favorite artists. It is just this world we’re trying to navigate right now!
Well I can’t control most of that, but I’m happy to share with you that I’M COMING BACK! I finally feel that spark again, that need to create, and my house is in good enough working order that I feel like I can return to my craft… VERY SOON! I just have a little more work to do setting up my new workspace! My old workbench was built into the wall of our garage so we didn’t take it with us. I’m planning to get myself a “real” jewelers bench this time around, along with an exhaust fan so I can be safer around the fumes and chemicals of smithing.
Which leads to my last comment for now, I could use your help covering these startup costs! That first silver order is gonna hit like a ton of bricks before I can make much new stuff… I’ve still got lots of beautiful things on my website from before I took my break. If you’ve been eyeing something, now would be a great time to treat yourself! If that sounds good to you, use code SHESBACK for 15% off plus free US shipping!
