Tonight! Join us at the Shop at the Collection for the 23rd annual Dirty Linen Night. Businesses all along Royal Street will keep their doors open late, with poured libations all evening long.*

Saturday, August 8, 6 –9 p.m.

*Guests must purchase a wristband to participate, which will be available day-of in the 200, 500 and 900 blocks of Royal Street starting at 4pm. Prior to 4pm, they can be purchased at Galerie Rue Royale or Elliott Gallery. Must be 21+ years of age to participate.

The bold personality of New Orleans’s legendary cartoonist and writer, best known for his cartoon characters Vic and Nat’ly, springs from the page in “Bunny Matthews: His Life, Art, and Obsessions.”

Matthews once wrote, “Be witty. Be nasty. Be silly. Don’t be boring.” That ethos animates the pages of HNOC’s upcoming book, written by Alison Fensterstock and Michael Tisserand. The first monograph of Matthews’s work combines his eye-catching illustrations with an in-depth look at the artist’s life and influence.

“The Trail They Blazed” is on view at The Historic New Orleans Collection for a few more weeks, but you can bring home books, mementos, and other items inspired by the local Civil Rights Movement even after the exhibition closes on June 7. Titles including “Small Shoes, Great Strides,” “Breach of Peace,“ and “Dear Ruby, Hear Our Hearts” honor the individuals who fought for civil rights. Accessories from All Very Goods, including the Power Button Tote Bag and Power Button Bandana, also celebrate civil rights history and carry its message forward.

Founded in 1998, HNOC’s “Tennessee Williams Annual Review” remains the only journal devoted to the works, worldwide influence, and cultural context of one of the most pivotal playwrights of the 20th century. The 2026 issue is now available at the Shop at the Collection!

The cover of the latest issue features Paul Mescal and Patsy Ferran in “A Streetcar Named Desire” at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Inside the issue, two Tennessee Williams works appear in print for the first time. An archival journey of discovery introduces readers to “The Lingering Hour,” one of Williams’s last and least-known plays. Essays explore piracy, Soviet criticism, Williams’s financial struggles as a young writer, recent stage productions, and new books.
