Betty Boop debuted in 1930 by Paramount Pictures. She was initially designed as an anthropomorphic French poodle with floppy ears and a black nose. By 1932, the poodle ears turned into hoop earrings and her nose into a button nose. She became a classic, and was animation’s first major female s*x symbol.
This piece is a handmade, 1930s marquetry picture frame tribute to the character.
