If you don't know where that is, you're not alone. It's an island on the far east coast of Russia, north of Japan. I, the owner - Allison Jones, went from working in finance for a major oil company to being a trailing spouse. Needless to say, I had some extra time on my hands and started trying all sorts of different things to fill my day. Painting classes, book clubs, baking and finally, my neigh
bor across the street bought some sewing DVDs and together, we learned to sew. After four years in Sakhalin, we moved to New Orleans, LA and within the first week of moving into my house, I bought a sewing/embroidery machine. They told me that the embroidery would be addicting and that I would soon be back to get a dedicated embroidery machine. I thought, this does all I need it to do, no way! Well, 6 months later, I had a new embroidery machine and a year after that a serger. I have had 4 years of practice making special t-shirts for my son and for friends. I have made drawstring backpacks, wet bags, nap mats and anything else I found that we "needed". So, now, I'm applying my skills to creating a new career for myself that still allows me time to still be there for my son and my hubby.
