Kiev-88 here in Geneva, Switzerland, it felt like I was holding a tank disguised as a camera. Heavy, square, loud – every detail screams character. Some call it the “Soviet Hasselblad,” and I kinda love that nickname.
The first time I loaded film, I almost messed it up 😅. But once I clicked that massive shutter, oh my… the sound echoed in the room. Not subtle at all, but powerful, like the camera saying: I’m alive.
For me, the Kiev-88 isn’t just another piece in my collection. It’s a statement. Standing proudly next to my Zorki and FED, it reminds me that analog photography is about patience, craft, and soul. Every scratch on the body feels like a medal from its past.
Now it has a special place on my shelf, and honestly, I smile every time I see it. Cameras like this don’t just take photos — they carry history.
