🎾 Goodbye, tennis… hello, crafting! ✂️

No Live today, but this is the last Sunday I’ll be saying that for a while!

After three very busy weeks at the US Open, it’s almost time to say goodbye to the tennis courts and get back to my craft table. And I’m definitely ready to play with paper, ink and stamps again! 💚

One little change, though: next week I’ll be LIVE on SATURDAY, September 19, instead of Sunday.

Hoy no hay Live, ¡pero este es el último domingo que lo diré por una temporada!

Después de tres semanas muy intensas en el US Open, ya casi ha llegado el momento de despedirme de las pistas de tenis y volver a mi mesa de manualidades. ¡Y tengo muchas ganas de volver a jugar con papel, tinta y sellos! 💚

Solo hay un pequeño cambio: la próxima semana estaré EN DIRECTO el SÁBADO 19 de septiembre, en lugar del domingo.

Sometimes the gift inspires the packaging! ☕✂️

Someone gave me a lovely box of tea, and I wanted to give her a little thank-you in return. So, at the last minute, I made this tiny tea-themed treat holder.

I love making small gifts like this personal — choosing the papers, colors and little details to connect with the reason I'm giving it. It doesn't have to be elaborate to say, “I thought of you.” 💕

Alguien me regaló una preciosa caja de té y quería tener un pequeño detalle para darle las gracias. Así que, a última hora, preparé este pequeño envoltorio con temática de té.

Me encanta personalizar estos pequeños detalles, escogiendo los papeles, colores y adornos para que tengan relación con la ocasión. No hace falta que sea algo complicado para decir: “Pensé en ti”. 💕

My craft table will have to wait a little longer… I’m still spending my days here at the US Open!

It’s been a very busy couple of weeks, but I’ll be back to paper, ink and stamps soon. ✂️💚

Something Special Saturday 🎾

This has been my view on the way home almost every night for the past week… usually in the wee hours of the morning! 🌃

Manhattan glowing in the distance means another very long day at the US Open is almost over — matches watched, press conferences covered, stories written and deadlines met.

It’s a very different world from my craft room, but it’s another part of who I am. And after all these years covering the US Open, I still love it.

Although I have to admit… by the time I see that skyline, I’m VERY ready for bed! 😂🎾

Sábado de Algo Especial 🎾

Esta ha sido mi vista de regreso a casa casi todas las noches durante la última semana… ¡normalmente de madrugada! 🌃

Ver Manhattan iluminado a lo lejos significa que otro larguísimo día en el US Open está a punto de terminar: partidos vistos, ruedas de prensa cubiertas, artículos escritos y entregas a tiempo.

Es un mundo muy diferente al de mi mesa de manualidades, pero también forma parte de quién soy. Y después de tantos años cubriendo el US Open, me sigue encantando.

Aunque tengo que reconocer que… cuando por fin veo ese skyline, ¡estoy MUY lista para irme a dormir! 😂🎾

What kind of crafter are YOU? ✂️

I’ve been thinking about this… and I’ve decided I can’t pick just one! 😂

Some days I want nothing more than stamps, ink and paper. Other days I’m adding layers, building fun folds, making 3D projects or creating something completely over the top.

That’s part of what I love about papercrafting — there’s always another style, technique or idea to try!

Yo lo he estado pensando… ¡y he decidido que no puedo elegir solo uno! 😂

Algunos días me apetece trabajar simplemente con sellos, tinta y papel. Otros quiero añadir capas, hacer tarjetas de pliegue original, proyectos 3D o crear algo totalmente espectacular.

Eso es parte de lo que más me gusta de las manualidades con papel: ¡siempre hay otro estilo, técnica o idea que probar!

Tuesday Tip ✂️

Die-cuts can do double duty!

Did you know you can use both a die-cut AND the negative space left behind as a stencil?

Place a die-cut over your cardstock and blend ink through the openings to create a pattern — like I did with the leafy design here. Or use the negative space left after cutting a shape, like the circle on the right.

Secure your die-cut or negative piece with a little washi tape so it doesn’t move while you blend the ink.

And you can try this with the die-cuts that come in Paper Pumpkin kits, or make your own with dies you already have.

It’s an easy way to get even more creative mileage out of your supplies!

✂️ CONSEJO DEL MARTES

¡Tus troquelados pueden tener doble uso!

¿Sabías que puedes usar como plantilla tanto un troquelado como el espacio negativo que queda al cortarlo?

Coloca el troquelado sobre la cartulina y aplica tinta a través de los espacios para crear un diseño — como hice aquí con las hojas. O aprovecha el espacio que queda al cortar una figura, como el círculo de la derecha.

Sujeta el troquelado o la pieza negativa con un poco de cinta washi para que no se mueva mientras aplicas la tinta.

Puedes hacerlo con los troquelados que vienen en los kits de Paper Pumpkin o crear tus propias plantillas con los troqueles que ya tienes.

¡Una manera muy fácil de sacar todavía más partido a tus materiales!
