National Licorice Day
April 12th
🌿Did you know licorce has a 5,000-year history !
🌿This "sweet root" (Greek: Glycyrrhiza) is grown in arid Mediterranean climates 🌞 from Italy to southeast Asia.
🌿Originally used as a medicinal herb to treat bronchial ailments and increase endurance.
🌿From King Tut's tomb (buried with large quantities) to Julius Caeser's soldiers (stamina and thirst quencher), this sweet root ultimately found its way from medicine to candy when an 18th-century English pharmacist added sugar to the mixture ...
..and we can say...
"the rest is history"
