There's nothing more memento mori than a market in a cemetery 🖤

Just like the Victorians, who enlivened cemeteries similarly to how we use city parks, our community of artists, antique and vintage vendors, and curators of all kinds will gather on October 3rd from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Sacramento Historic City Cemetery. I hope to see you there!

The event is curated by the fabulous ALTAR ROOM

This video is a throwback to when my friend Homestead Hallows 🌿✨️🏡 and I did our last yearly winter visit to the cemetery, leaving blooms on the graves that called to us and reminding them that they aren't forgotten. She will be at the market as well!

Every year, my childhood home turns into a haunted house, with Halloween on every surface. Many of the decorations my mom has made, instilling a love of crafting and decorating into all of her children.

One of my favorite spooky markets of the year is almost HERE! 🖤

The fabulous Mystique Market is this Saturday, October 3rd, and it's one event you can't miss! ALL of the spookiest bi***es will be there. Explore the historic cemetery and meet vendors with marvels of all kinds. With the unique mix of death history and treasure hunting, you know I'll be there!

I'm bringing tons of treasures and oddities to add to your Wunderkammer. See you at the cemetery this weekend!

Spruced up my booth wreath! 🖤

I've had this wreath for years, and it is one of the things that draws people in, with a chuckle about my business name. Because my business is about death education and using old items to talk about mortality as well as making antiques and vintage accessible, it is based on the custom of the ribboned funeral wreath.

It has been dragged from market to market, and it needed some new things - with a wreath like this, the more you add, the cooler it looks! Black velvet roses, velvet mushrooms, sparkling feather butterflies, and a custom ribbon tie it all together.

Also heavily inspired by the art and wreaths of my mom 🖤 she is an amazing artist and decorator!

If you were an Ancient Egypt kid, you've got to see this exhibit!

This past weekend, I went to go see the "Treasures of the Pharaohs" exhibit at the de Young Museum. It was an amazing experience as someone who read every book in the library about ancient Egypt as a child. I, along with the rest of the world, have always been fascinated with the art, objects, practices, and culture from that era.

Tying into the mission of Spooky Bitch Antiques is this exhibit's inclusion of so many items found with burials. Learning how the dead were honored and prepared through history for their journey only brings us closer to our own mortality. Many of these items were used to contain or decorate the dead, and there is such care and detail on every inch of every piece.

Highly recommend going to see this exhibit, and make sure to check out the rest of the museum while you're there!
