Spring and fall are my favorite seasons to travel, and also my busiest times of year work-wise.

I’m lucky that my work gives me the flexibility to do both, even if that sometimes means virtual fittings and consultations at 1am, shopping and outfitting whenever I have downtime, and building my workdays around wherever I happen to be.

In April, in Japan/Korea:
Week 1: Shikoku on my own
Week 2: Fukuoka with my parents
Week 3: Seoul with my parents + partner
Week 4: Tokyo with my partner

Photos are in chronological order.

After a 14h flight and missing my layover to Matsuyama (in Shikoku), I finally got to my car rental by lunch time.

I barely had any rest with a full itinerary planned, and drove on the opposite side for the 1st time. Yeah I was nervous at first, but driving ended up being my favorite part of the trip.

Shikoku is the least traveled of all the major Japanese islands, which was why I chose it. There were moments (like this one at Oboki Gorge) where I was the only one around. It was such a new and wonderful feeling.

I flew to Fukuoka to meet my parents, who flew in from LA.

We just ate and walked around, and it was a blast.

A proper workstation is mandatory everywhere I stay. When I’m this far ahead, I’ll catch up on everything midday. Then at night, usually past midnight, I’ll have all my virtual fittings and consultations.

I thought this place was a two bedroom, but it ended up being a large studio with a partition 😅

I took all my calls behind those red doors, on the floor by the front door.

Now we’re in Seoul.

This was the first time here with my dad since I was a child. It was fun listening to my parents point out the places they used to meet.

Keeping it clean, neutral, and Seoul-appropriate 🙂

I know I’m a full season behind on my posts, but better late than never 😬

I’ve been meaning to share more behind-the-scenes from work and life, but this year really got away from me. But I’m finally catching up, starting with March 🌸

First week of March and first decent day after a brutal winter. On my way to a client appointment in SoHo.

I hate riding cars and subways, so I was so grateful I could finally hop on my bike. I actually had to take my coat off, it was that warm ☀️

My client and I had to shop for the perfect blazer for her law firm photos. It wasn’t our most exciting project, but we always have a good time.

Celebrated my 45th at the four horsemen and the oeuf mayonnaise (squid ink, kohlrabi, osetra caviar) was the clear winner for me. If you’ve eaten here before, share your thoughts!

In our 19 years of knowing each other, this may have been a first.

Traveling for a client during TSA shutdown was insane.

The reason we chose to do this in-person was so we could get him measured for a custom jacket.

What started as a casual $10 guide has turned into much, much more 😮‍💨

Fingers crossed for a fall drop. Stay tuned!

After building his wardrobe last year, we decided a sick coat was a must-add.

I trained in custom yearrrrs ago and I’m finally getting back into it 👌🏼

What should’ve been a quick hour up to Boston turned into several hours of TSA chaos, flight delays, and more uncertainty than anyone needs before noon. But hey, all in a day’s job 😌

Because of an event deadline and the fact that I was measuring him for custom (I guess I’m soft launching this service here), this one needed to be in person. And though I do a lot of things virtually, if I can see the closet in person, I’ll rarely pass it up.

We had a two-hour window. By the time I landed and got to my client, we were down to 90 minutes. We still got through everything.

A lot of people think a stylist’s job is glamorous, but sometimes it’s a stressful morning at JFK, a compressed timeline, and figuring out how to make it work anyway. And then you’re back home by dinner like nothing happened.

It’s a good thing I love what I do 💁🏻‍♀️

My 45th trip around the sun quietly came and passed yesterday.

I’m usually solo traveling around this time, but this year I was back home in NYC. Winter here gets moody and this one was no joke. I didn’t feel like schlepping across the city, let alone dragging my equally tired, overwhelmed 40+ friends out into the cold.

And honestly, I like spending this day to myself. Reflecting. Taking inventory. The usual.

I got calls and heartfelt messages from every single person I care about, even a few I hadn’t spoken to in years. That always means the world to me and is more than enough.

Drinking and big birthday energy had its era. Now at this age, with everyone and the world going through so much, a quiet and contemplative day has become my go-to.

A simple lunch with my best friend.
A no-frills massage at my favorite Brooklyn spot.
Calls with friends/family I haven’t seen in so long.
Dinner at a restaurant I’ve been meaning to try.

I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about this one, but it ended up being exactly what I needed.

We’re all feeling it in some way right now.

Things cost more, trends move faster, options feel overwhelming.

Whether you’re very comfortable or watching every dollar, smart shopping matters more than it used to, not from a place of fear, but more from a place of awareness.

The environment’s changed, retail’s changed, and the way brands produce, price, and promote has changed, and it’s a lot to keep up with. Most people don’t even realize how much the landscape has shifted behind the scenes.

You don’t need to become an expert, but understanding how the current climate affects what ends up in stores, what goes on sale, and what’s actually worth buying puts you back in control.

Follow for smarter, more intentional ways to build a wardrobe that actually works for your life.
