As a unique independent bookstore, we have been promoting diversity through literature for a decade. Now that we are back in action, we have doubled down on our commitment to celebrating diversity, human rights, promote eq

uality, inspiring reading, elevate voices, and unite communities to embrace the world through books. Huemanbooks as an independent bookstore has partnered with Ground Central Coffee Company, a fellow independent business. Through our partnership with this independent coffee shop chain, we can sell books in-store, host exciting live events, including author story readings and book launches.

In honor of Black History Month, a new coffee-table book collects never-before-seen images taken by the American photojournalist and civil-rights advocate during a 1953 assignment in Chicago for Life magazine.
Parks’s legacy is revisited in a new coffee-table book that features never-before-seen work from 1953.
On assignment for Life, Parks had returned to Chicago to report on the Metropolitan Missionary Baptist Church and its celebrated pastor, the Reverend Ernest Franklin Ledbetter Sr., hence the book’s title. For reasons unknown, the photographs and accompanying texts on hope, faith, and community were never published—until now. —Carolina de Armas
