How much of your life is waiting on the other side of a decision you’re afraid to make?
I came across this old photo today from the very early days of Pretty Rugged.
What struck me wasn’t the business, the blanket, or even the moment itself.
It was remembering what it’s like to stand at the beginning of something.
Most of us know that feeling.
Wanting more for ourselves, but wondering if we’re capable of it.
Having an idea we can’t stop thinking about, but talking ourselves out of it before we begin.
Waiting until we’re more confident.
More prepared.
More certain.
As if confidence is something that arrives before we take action.
But it rarely works that way.
The hardest part isn’t failing.
The hardest part is carrying around the weight of a life you never gave yourself the chance to try for.
None of us know how things will turn out.
We never do.
All we get is the opportunity to take the next step, however small, and trust that we’ll figure out the one after that.
Maybe the bravest thing you’ll do this year isn’t succeeding.
Maybe it’s simply beginning.
