This is clever organ building by the Casavant Organ Co of Canada. The first photo shows a wooden tuning stopper handle sticking up through the tuning slot of the round, metal Principal pipe above it. The Principal pipe has been mitered (the top has been cut and resoldered at a ninety degree angle to reduce the pipe height; in this case, to fit under a ceiling.) Even with the tuning stopper handle in the tuning slot, the tone of the Principal pipe matches the other Principal pipes. Forty-one years working on organs and this is a first for me.
