a client approached me with two gorgeous wood vases that she owned, wanting artful paper flower bouquets to brighten her home. natural flowers wouldn’t work because they could damage the wood, and we knew right away that crepe paper flowers would fit the bill.

i started the design process by photographing and measuring the vases to figure out how many flowers, what kind, and how the two could complement each other. next, i sketched a few arrangements and played around with sample stems. we met afterward to see what needed to be tweaked or added. once i got final sign off (hooray!), i went straight into production mode. i cut each petal by hand, shaded them with pastels to add a delicate touch of color and variety, then carefully glued each flower together and arranged them.

in just a few short weeks, the beautiful vases had a sculptural, airy piece of paper artwork filling them. it was a fun and challenging project, and i can’t wait to tackle the next one. dm or visit happihello.com to get started!

a blush peony, a white tulip, and a calla lily blushed pink at the edges.

all cut, shaded, and curled by hand out of fine italian crepe paper.

set on two stacked books with a coastal candle beside it, the delicate bud vase adds a special touch to a nightstand.

august looked like this 🎨🌸☀️📍🏙️

september through december is our busy season for stationery and gifting, so i use the summer to rest and think. this year that meant a crafternoon with friends where nothing had to get finished, and an afternoon in a garden photographing black-eyed susans from four different angles because i want to make them in crepe paper.

i still made things. a few commissions went out, including white tulips and cosmos that now live on a client’s bookshelf. i also spent a good part of the month testing a new way to color the edges of my peonies. that kind of experiment only happens when nothing is due.

there’s a lot to launch this fall. more on that soon.

we’ll be back at grand bazaar and fad market for busy season, and there’s more market news coming. link in bio for dates if you want to shop in person, or send a dm to start a paper flower commission.

Freshly made paper flowers, featuring a new (extra dainty) sweetpea design 💐

I’m experimenting with using watered down acrylic paint to add soft washes of pink, yellow, and green, creating the naturally imperfect shading found in real calla lilies. 🎨🖌️🌷

Earth Month starts today 🌿

What if the gifts we give didn’t get thrown away after a few days?

So many of the things we give with love (flowers, cards, little thoughtful gestures) are sometimes seen as temporary, but they don’t have to be.

At HappiHello, everything is designed with intention:
✨ Cards made to be kept, displayed, and revisited
✨ Paper flowers that don’t wilt or need replacing
✨ Thoughtful details that stay part of your space

Because sustainability doesn’t have to feel complicated. Sometimes it’s just choosing something that lasts a little longer.

SAVE this for your next gift idea!
