The goal of 'The Plant Ladies' is to create a site that contains all things succulents and house plants: care, tips, pictures, and links to different succulent-related items you can buy. Kim and Robyn grew up in the suburbs surrounded by nature, and after moving to different cities they miss the green (although they find green in other ways). Their hobbies include texting each other pictures of d

ying plants that they want to rescue, procasti-napping, scrolling Reddit for hours and playing Words with Friends with each other at work. Through trial and tribulation they have each created their beautiful plant families and want to share the love of plants with you.

Happy New Year everyone! I ended the year at Wave Hill garden, which had a spectacular greenhouse with a bunch of succulents I’ve never seen or heard of before! Plants are good for the soul year round. Do you have any plants New Year’s resolutions?

Cheddar, plant aficionado and out unofficial mascot, is posed here next to a Fiddle Leaf fig that had exactly 0 leaves at the beginning of the summer. A hearty prune, lots of sunshine and humidity, and she’s a new plant. We love a good glow up story!

This is your sign to not get rid of your “weeds!” I say that in quotation marks because we’ve been taught our whole lives that weeds are bad- because they ruin precious lawns. But ever wonder why they pop up no matter what? It’s because they are native and our yards are their exact right growing conditions. Many, like dandelions actually have great medicinal uses, and they are wonderful for pollinators. If it’s an invasive species (usually these aren’t native)- this doesn’t apply- but maybe let the weeds bloom and see what happens 🌼🌸🌼

Am I the only one who had no ideas potatoes flowered?? I try to grow something new each summer and this year it was the bag of potatoes that had sprouted in my cabinet. As you can see, they are thriving. What are you growing this year?

Fiddle leaf figs. We can all agree they are a bit.. challenging, yes? After a particularly stressful winter, mine www looking worse for the west (by that I mean it lost almost all its leaves). I have it a big old chop- cut off its tops, and set in a sunny area, watered it, and we have new growth! There are little leaves forming in the nubs where the old leaves fell. Even if these plants are divas they are also resilient. Will keep updated on progress!

Planting season has officially begun! While it’s still far too early for most plants to go outside- I satisfied my gardening needs by replacing these beautiful rananculus- which can withstand cold down to 25 degrees. If you don’t have any hearty plants- nows a great time to get your seeds planted to get your seedlings ready for the summer! What are you planting this year?

Haven’t posted in a while! Hope everyone is having a restful winter and staying warm. Wanted to share this beautiful cactus bloom-

Something about all the rain this summer has made seeds spout like crazy. I have all kinds of plants growing in my garden that I didn’t plant- long forgotten seeds lulled out of dormancy and thriving in the autumn sun. I have been so excited to see this gourd plant grow- next to where I had my Halloween decor last year. Look at its first little gourd! Have you ever had an unexpected plant grow?
