It's hard to believe that 25 years have passed since the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

Living near New York City at the time, I will always remember that day and the days that followed — along with all too many neighbors who never returned home.
That morning, I was with a V.P. of Sales, taking the Port Jefferson–Bridgeport Ferry to Connecticut with one of my Salespersons to visit a potential customer. We listened to the news unfold on the car radio. Neither of us could believe what we were hearing. I remember him saying, "I think we are at war." And still, it hadn't fully hit us.

We drove to the customer's high-rise building in Hartford, and it wasn't until we walked inside that the weight of it landed. The security guard at his station had the television on — and he was weeping.

Tomorrow is a solemn day of remembrance. To all who lost loved ones, to the heroes we lost in New York, in Washington, and in Pennsylvania, and to those who survived — we care deeply, and we will always remember.

We extend our prayers for greater peace and understanding in our world.
