in 1983, NEW ORDER release their seminal lp, "POWER, CORRUPTION and LIES".
“Blue Monday” was a precursor of sorts to New Order’s near-perfect career highlight, 1983’s "Power, Corruption and Lies". Where the band’s debut LP, Movement, seemed like a comment and minor expansion on the band’s palette as Joy ...Division, on PCL the band finally allowed itself the latitude to try new things. There would be songs that recalled the best of both worlds (like the incredible opener “Age of Consent” and closer “Leave Me Alone”) but PCL was driven by the band’s open embrace of all that dance music had to offer.

a VERY special April 23 in PUNK music history::::

in 1976, RAMONES is released on Sire Records. The band started recording the album in February 1976 and spent an estimated US $6,400. Many recording techniques used for the album were similar to techniques used by The Beatles and orchestras. The front cover, photographed by Roberta Bayl...ey, was ranked number 58 on Rolling Stone's list of 100 Greatest Album Covers.

The album reached number 111 in the United States on the Billboard 200 chart and was ranked number 33 on Rolling Stone's The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.The album started the Ramones' career, and would eventually go on to influence artists in the heavy metal, thrash metal, indie pop, grunge, and post-punk genres.
