we’ll rip the bandaid off now, we won’t be having a meeting this month.

HOWEVER, we’re bouncing back in October with literary debut novel, Monstrillio by Gerardo Sámano Córdova. (queue monster by Lady Gaga)

For fans of Stephen Graham Jones, this novel stars a grieving mother, acting on the knowledge of an old folktale, who cuts out a piece of her deceased eleven-year-old to revive him into a carnivorous Monstrilio.

A thought-provoking meditation on grief, acceptance, and the monstrous sides of love and loyalty, Gerardo Sámano Córdova blends bold imagination and evocative prose with deep emotional rigor. Told in four acts that span the globe from Brooklyn to Berlin, Monstrilio offers, with uncanny clarity, a cathartic and precise portrait of being human.

We will meet at Book Culture’s 112th location on the 2nd floor. We plan to discuss the book for an hour and a half. While your hosts will come with some talking points and questions to kick off the discussion, please don’t be afraid to share your thoughts and ask questions openly.

The novel is 20% off in-store and online with code 112BOOKCLUB! You can also purchase the audiobook through our libro.fm affiliate or (as always) borrow it from your local, ETHICAL, data center: the library!
