The star tree is capable of bearing edible fruits. They are eaten fresh. They can also be used as a component for making juices and some dessert dishes and baked goods. The plant is often used by traditional healers because it has the ability to normalize blood pressure.

Since the tree originally grew in a tropical climate, which is characterized by high humidity, this condition must also be observed when growing in pots. Moisturizing should be regular. It is highly recommended not to allow the soil to dry out even slightly. As soon as the top 1-2 cm dry out, further moistening is required.
The star tree also requires additional nutrition in the form of fertilizing. Complex mineral fertilizers are best applied in February.
