Fall/Winter Skin!
Winter’s combination of low temperatures, low humidity and warm heated air means trouble for your skin. For those with certain skin conditions, winter weather can make those conditions worse. It’s good to know some of the many ways to tend to troubled skin.
Dry Skin-Many people deal with dry, flaky skin at some point during winter. Fortunately, there are simple home remedies to add moisture to the skin.
Eczema-Eczema is a chronic condition that involves itchy, inflamed skin. It may occur with allergies and asthma. It most frequently appears on the arms and behind the knees. Its origins are unknown, but it may be a result of genetic tendencies toward sensitive skin and an immune system dysfunction.Dry, cold winter air can irritate eczema, notes the National Eczema Association.
Some aid for dry skin, eczema and psoriasis:Plug in a humidifier.Take a warm bath or short, warm showers – and use a mild soap that’s free of fragrance. If your skin’s really dry, try a lukewarm bath with oatmeal or baking soda.Use a moisturizer after bathing and when your skin feels dry. Wear soft, natural fabrics.
