After eight months of planning, three days of shooting, and over two months of mixing and editing, I’ve made all new videos of my instrumental bands and added them to my websites. In all, there are close to 50 new videos representing 7 different bands. The more conservative of these videos I’m marketing for private events, the less conservative for jazz clubs and concerts.

Nearly all of these performances are first takes, and in some instances such as this, we are playing these tunes together for the very first time, with every detail improvised. I like this particular performance a lot. If you listen all the way through, you may notice that I fail to anticipate the ending of the tune and hit my crash cymbal in the wrong spot; in true jazz style, everyone adjusts instantly and we improvise a more interesting ending together.

I'm busy now editing more new videos of my bands from the third video shoot we've done in the past six months. All told, when I finish, there will be over 50 new videos spread across several sections of both of my websites, the more adventurous ones marketed for concerts and jazz clubs, the more conservative for private events and restaurants.

If you have a quiet moment in your day, you'll enjoy this. I've been working with this vibraphonist for nearly two decades now. Not only is he my favorite vibraphonist in New York, but he is honestly my favorite vibraphonist in all of jazz history. There is never a moment of imperfection with him.

A few weeks ago, I held the first of two marathon sessions to create updated videos of my instrumental bands. The effort of the musicians involved was heroic—my bassist, for one, memorized 28 tunes!

I'll be sharing one of these videos each week. I hope those of you who take a moment out of your workday to listen are as inspired by these musicians as I am.
