We deeply appreciate the support of the entire New York City Council on supporting our small businesses. They understand the gravity and toll of COVID-19 on us and play a critical role in our recovery.

Thank you NYCEDC and especially Councilman Mark Treyger’s office for leading this bill and bringing us to yesterday, where the Council UNANIMOUSLY voted Yes!

(Voting for a new amendment that allows for a lease extension for the amusement parks and many of the boardwalk businesses in Coney Island.)

This isn’t the final step in the process, but it gets us closer to final approval.

Almost 21 months since we first felt the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are close to emerging from uncertainty.

Today, the NYC Committee on Land Use unanimously approved a proposal that provides the first step in restoring stability and security into the Coney Island Amusement area, including several of our multigenerational family owned and operated small businesses along the historic Coney Island Boardwalk.

We, Coney Island Boardwalk businesses (Paul's Daughter, Brooklyn Beach Shop, Tom's Coney Island and Ruby's Bar & Grill) support the extension and ask the New York City Council to Vote Yes!

We look forward to the next steps in the process, which will be a lifeline for us.

Yesterday’s announcement marks 11 years and 1 day since NYCEDC first announced the beginning of our beloved Coney Island’s long term revitalization. It is also 16 months since Coney Island amusements were last open. While there is a continued need for relief for everyone who is impacted, this announcement is a momentous first step in the long road of recovery.

Welcome back Luna Park NYC and Deno's Wonder Wheel Amusement Park!
