Great event on -fashion!

The "Eco-Sessions" event, moderated by Kate Black of Magnifeco and held at "Pave" in SoHo last night on sustainable retail, was a nice blend of inspiration and common sense.

Panelists included NYC based, Swati Argade of “Bhoomki,” (on 5th Ave. in Park Slope, Brooklyn) Allison McGowan of “Teich Design” (in the West Village) and Maxine Bedat of Zady.com which has a Pop Up Shop at La Guardia airport (Delta Terminal) through the holiday season.

Good news was also prevalent as launching businesses, including sustainable denim company, “Eva & Paul” (CEO Julia Kastner is together here with our Deanna) announced their launch at 175 Varick St. (4th Flr) in NYC (www.evaandpaul.com). Check them out!

Some of my favorite quotes were from Maxine Bedat:

"Feel connected to the clothes you wear," and "Believe in the idea of story telling - customer is looking for authenticity."

In reference to the costs associated with buying sustainable or ethical fashion, she remarked, "it is expensive today but it doesn't have to be this expensive in the future if we can get economies of scale."

I agree, so let's start thinking about how we are shopping, where we do it, and how much we are consuming.
