Nearly a century’s worth of character packed into today’s trumpet 🎺👇

This 1928 Keefer Gold-Plated Bb/A Trumpet, priced at $1,800 on jlbrass.com, comes with its original full kit and case and has plenty of character to match its age. The gold plating is complemented by some stunning bell engraving that remains remarkably sharp, along with a hand-hammered interior bell (see photos).

The horn plays well with a robust, focused sound that projects easily without requiring much effort from the player. It also features an impressively quick response, making it a very efficient trumpet overall to play.

Instrument comes with an extra main tuning slide for A tuning, the original wooden cleaning brush (not recommended for use due to deteriorated bristles), Keefer 1 and 3 mouthpieces, and a lyre, all of which fit quite nicely into its original contoured case.

Check out more details on this Keefer, as well as our complete lineup of instruments and gear, at jlbrass.com or through our redirect in bio.

We’re back from the Labor Day weekend with this AR Resonance Feroce Bb Trumpet in a raw, scratch-brushed finish.

Price: $9,000

This pre-owned Feroce features a 5.3” one-piece nickel silver bell and includes an assortment of threaded couplers (for gap adjustment) for the leadpipe. The instrument is in fantastic shape, with no red rot and no evidence of significant repairs.

This is a beast of a horn, with tons of power and sizzle available with minimal effort thanks to its ML bore, relatively tight bell taper, and extensive use of nickel silver throughout the bell, leadpipe, upper valve casing balusters, and main tuning slide.

It can peel paint when you want it to, but pair it with the right mouthpiece and it can also settle into a ballad with an extremely broad tone.

Check out this AR Resonance Feroce at jlbrass.com or through our redirect in bio.

Can you hear a difference between these 3 cornets?

We recently added several cornets to the store, so what better way to highlight a few of them than with a not-so-serious playtest with our guy Evan.

There’s always a lot that goes into an instrument’s sound and feel, but for this one we’re focusing on one design difference in particular: the varying amounts of Shepherd’s crooks used across these three cornets.

Cornets featured in the clip:

1929 Bach New York Stradivarius ML Bore Bb Cornet
-$2,000

Stomvi Titan Brass Band Model Cornet w/ Original Case
-$3,200

Flip Oakes Wild Thing Bb Cornet w/ Original Case
-$2,400

Give them a listen and let us know which one stands out to you!

Check out these cornets, along with our full lineup currently available instruments, at jlbrass.com or through our redirect in bio.

This dent just saved you over $800 😧

Highlighting a B-Stock Yamaha YTR-9335CH-BR III Custom Xeno Artist Chicago Model Bb Trumpet in lacquer today, and the best part is it’s $811.99 off (current pricing: $5,000).

Now, you may be wondering why this Yamaha comes with such a big discount. While on display, the horn sustained minor surface scratches and a small dent in the back turn. Our team expertly repaired the dent, with only the barest hint of evidence remaining. We’ve also included a video in the post, so you can get a closer look at the area we’re talking about.

Outside of that, this instrument has never been owned and is otherwise in like-new condition.

These are incredibly lively-sounding Bb trumpets with excellent intonation and response, making this a fantastic pickup for anyone looking for an exceptional horn at an equally impressive price. The instrument also includes its case and a Yamaha 17B4 mouthpiece.

We only have one B-Stock model available, so if you’ve been waiting for a deal on one of these, this is your opportunity.

Pick it up on our site at jlbrass.com or through our redirect in bio.

What happens when you combine Yamaha + Kanstul parts?

We recently assembled three custom Bb trumpets from new-old-stock Yamaha and Kanstul parts, with each one cleaned, buffed, polished, and given a precision valve alignment before hitting the sales floor.

These horns play with a broad brilliance that brings together some of the best sonic qualities of Yamaha’s beloved 6### series and classic Besson Meha trumpets, paired with the balance and response of the Shew leadpipe / Miyashiro slide leg combo.

They’re on the lighter side and skew a bit toward the commercial end of things, but can absolutely serve as all-arounders. Check out the playtest in the clip to hear more on that.

The best part? Each one is currently priced at $2,600.

You can learn more about these custom builds in the clip, then check them out at jlbrass.com or through our redirect in bio.
