Just getting into ESP32? Keep it simple.

Buy an ESP32 starter kit and install the Arduino IDE with ESP32 board support.

Start with the classic Blink example and understand what each part of the code does.

Then pick a few ESP32 tutorials and don't just copy them.

Run the code. Change it. Break it. Fix it. Try adding your own features.

And when something goes wrong?

Search -> experiment -> ask AI -> Community

That loop will teach you more than simply watching tutorials.

Build small -> break things -> learn -> build something bigger.

Want to go beyond Arduino on ESP32?

LearnESP32 is a focused course on ESP-IDF, with nearly 28 hours of video lessons.

It starts with the basics and goes much deeper into the stuff you actually need for serious ESP32 development like FreeRTOS, memory, debugging, GPIO, ADC, PWM, UART, IΒ²C, SPI, Wi-Fi, REST, web servers, MQTT, ESP-NOW, OTA and BLE.

There is also coverage of OpenOCD, JTAG, QEMU, PSRAM, flash partitions and storage.

The first section is free, so you can try it before going further.

What If Your ESP32 Could Hear You?

The ESP32-S3-Korvo-1 is an audio development board designed around the ESP32-S3.

It is made for experimenting with voice assistants, speech recognition and audio processing, with the hardware built around microphones, audio input/output and wireless connectivity.

What makes boards like this interesting is the combination of:

ESP32-S3 + audio + Wi-Fi/BLE + AI/voice processing

You can use it as a starting point for projects like offline voice commands, smart speakers, voice-controlled IoT devices and audio edge-AI experiments.

A good board to explore if you want to move from basic ESP32 sensors into embedded voice and AI.

One ESP32. One SIM. Many phones?

What if you didn't need a SIM card in every device?

That's the idea behind PhoneLets, an ACM research project from 2014.

One device keeps the cellular connection, while nearby devices share it over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

Now imagine building the same idea with ESP32 + 4G.

One cellular connection β†’ many ESP32 devices.

Simple idea. Lots of possibilities.

πŸš€ From a Prototype to a Real-World Wireless Monitoring System

Excited to share our Wireless Satellite Telemetry & Intrusion Detection System β€” a transmitter and receiver-based system developed using ESP32 and LoRa communication.

πŸ“‘ One of the key highlights:
Our system achieved communication over ~5 km in an open environment, demonstrating the potential of LoRa for long-range wireless monitoring.

βš™οΈ How it works

The transmitter uses an ultrasonic sensor and servo motor to scan the surroundings and measure object distance. The ESP32 processes the data and sends it wirelessly through LoRa.

At the receiver side, the data is processed by another ESP32 and displayed on an LCD, while LEDs and a buzzer provide alerts when an intrusion is detected.

🌍 Potential real-world applications

The same concept can be adapted for:

β€’ Remote perimeter & security monitoring
β€’ Industrial facility monitoring
β€’ Warehouse and asset protection
β€’ Agricultural field monitoring
β€’ Remote infrastructure monitoring
β€’ Vehicle and equipment tracking
β€’ Telemetry for remote environments

Long-range LoRa-based systems are already used in industrial monitoring, asset tracking, logistics, safety monitoring and remote sensing applications.

What started as a hardware prototype gave us hands-on experience in embedded systems, wireless communication, sensor interfacing and real-time monitoring.

Building it was not just about making the circuit work β€” it was about understanding how the same technology can be scaled into a practical real-world system. βš‘πŸ“‘
