: **e – From Etna’s Slopes to Sicily’s Soul 🍷🇮🇹
Nearly a decade ago, I visited Gambino W**ery on the slopes of Mount Etna. Returning to reconnect with the family at Sicilia En Primeur recently brought back wonderful memories and reminded me why this estate made such an impression.
Located in Linguaglossa, high on Etna overlooking the Ionian Sea, Gambino’s vineyards are rooted in volcanic soils and benefit from Etna’s dramatic elevation and diurnal temperature shifts. The w**ery produces Etna Rosso, Etna Bianco, and w**es from Sicily’s indigenous varieties.
🍷 Petto Dragone Etna Rosso DOC
A beautiful expression of Etna, with aromas of wild cherry, raspberry, violet, and Mediterranean herbs. The palate is fresh and elegant, with vibrant red fruit, earthy minerality, subtle spice, fine tannins, and a long savory finish.
I also enjoyed revisiting 🍷Duvanera Nero d’Avola, a richer expression of Sicily’s beloved native red grape.
From my first visit to our recent Sicilia En Primeur encounter, Gambino continues to showcase the remarkable diversity and character of Sicilian w**e.
Have you experienced the w**es of Etna?

When in Greece, you drink Greek w**e 🍷…Especially when it’s the Wining Hour and you’re sitting on the beautiful island of Santorini, sipping Santo W**es Santorini Assyrtiko with the Aegean Sea as your backdrop.
Assyrtiko is one of Greece’s signature white grapes, and Santorini’s volcanic soils, intense sunshine, and powerful Aegean winds create w**es with incredible freshness, concentration, and minerality.
🍷 Santo W**es Santorini Assyrtiko delivered vibrant notes of lemon citrus, green apple, white peach, and subtle floral and mineral notes, with mouthwatering acidity and that distinctive saline character that makes Santorini Assyrtiko so compelling.
And my pairing? Calamari. 🦑🇬🇷
The crisp acidity and mineral profile were perfect alongside the seafood—proof that sometimes the best food-and-w**e pairing is simply drinking the w**e where it was born.
Santorini + Assyrtiko + calamari + the Aegean Sea = a pretty perfect Wining Hour Chat. 💙 Yamas! 🇬🇷🥂

Italy 🇮🇹…Through W**e🍷
🍷
I had the pleasure of attending the Italian W**e Masterclass, Lunch & Walk-Around Tasting, hosted by Coldiretti Italia in collaboration with Istituto 100% Italiano at the beautiful Columbus Citizens Foundation in New York City.
It began with an engaging educational masterclass led by acclaimed w**e writer Audrey Frick, who guided attendees through Italy’s remarkable w**e heritage, diverse terroirs, and w**emaking traditions. Following a networking lunch, the walk-around tasting provided the opportunity to meet producers, discover new labels, and experience the incredible diversity that makes Italian w**e so captivating.
Featured w**eries included:
🍷 Casanova di Neri (Tuscany)
🍷 Donnafugata (Sicily)
🍷 Piero Mancini (Sardegna)
🍷 La Viarte (Friuli Venezia Giulia)
🍷 Orsogna (Abruzzo)
🍷 Cesani (Tuscany)
These educational tastings are always a reminder that every bottle tells a story of place, tradition, and the passionate people behind it. Salute! 🇮🇹🍷
