Wow, calling all saxophone fans and collectors! Check out this gorgeous Selmer Super Balanced Action tenor that just went up for sale at our shop! The 54### serial number dates it back to 1954 where it was hand made in Paris, France.

This tenor is one of most desired range of Super Balanced actions with the Mark VI single piece bell key guard and the mix of Mark VI engraving combined with SBA. So much of this tenorā€™s original dark cellulose lacquer remains. The American engraving on the front of the bell that stretches down to the bow is stunning and some of Selmerā€™s best engraving work! This tenor just received a full overhaul from our shop and is sealing like a drum and playing perfectly. These tenors are some of the most beautiful sounding Selmers made. It has elements of the Mark VI but is still deeply rooted in the Super Balanced Action sound territory creating a truly unique one of a kind blowing horn.

Everyone help us welcome Harry Allen to our wonderful roster of endorsing artists here at JL Woodwinds. Harry came to us saying heā€™s been wanting something that plays more in tune with modern key work but it had to have the same sound and tone as the vintage Selmers he loved. After a lifetime of playing Selmer Balanced Action horns, Harry found a cognac lacquer Artist Edition without a high F sharp key that he really enjoyed.

Check out this clip of him playing some of his first of many notes on his new horn! Catch him with this new horn on his upcoming September tour in Europe or all over the most iconic clubs in NYC when he gets back.

Saxophone fans, check out this amazing super balanced action tenor that just came in for sale at our shop! This is a 43### serial number SBA that dates back to early 1951 where it was hand made in Paris, France.

This one, although relacquered, was originally American engraved and the beautiful floral engraving thankfully wasnā€™t buffed too extensively and is still visible. The original serial number matching neck is free from pull down and looks great. The bottom bow is also free from denting and has a clean bill of health. This tenor just got off the bench from a full overhaul at our shop less than 6 months ago with a full set of custom solid brass resonators. To some, this is the prime serial number range for the super balanced action tenor and this one is certainly no exception.

These 1st generation Yamaha 62 tenors in silver plate need absolutely no introduction. This professionally owned horn is in excellent shape and was maintained very well. This horn is free from any major cosmetic damage and is looking and sounding wonderful. The Yamaha purple logo tenor are well known in the industry for having a sound that is beautiful and crisp and vibrant much like the vintage selmer Mark VIs plus the impeccable intonation of Yamaha. Add the fact that the price is approximately 1/3rd of the Vintage selmers and it makes a lot of sense why the Yamaha Purple Logo tenors are so sought after.
