25 years. Wow. It’s hard to believe that a quarter of a century has passed since September 11, 2001.
For us at Balloon Saloon, September 11th isn’t only a day in history. We were here. This was our neighborhood. This was our home.
We remember the fear and horror of that morning. We remember watching the streets and the neighborhood we knew so well change before our eyes. We remember the people who never came home.
But we also remember what happened afterward…neighbors helping neighbors, first responders running toward danger, and strangers taking care of one another. We remember a New York filled with incredible compassion, kindness, courage, and love. The world could use that again now more than ever.
Balloon Saloon has been part of this downtown neighborhood since 1981. We were here before September 11th. We were here through the difficult days, weeks, and months that followed. And 25 years later, we are incredibly grateful to still be here—opening our doors every morning in the neighborhood we love.
Our business has always been about celebrations-all of life’s happiest moments. Perhaps that has made us appreciate even more just how precious those moments really are.
We took a walk down to the 9/11 Memorial Reflecting Pools after work today, and thought we’d share some of those moments. Also, a special thank you to all of the Therapy Dogs and their handlers from Hope, who were there to offer extra love and support to anyone who needed it…it definitely helped.
Today, and always, we remember those we lost.
We honor the heroes, and we hold their families in our hearts.
With love,
The Balloon Saloon Family ❤️🇺🇸
