The latest addition to the archive, a throwback to my days working in a library. It might not have put much of a dent in my overflow stacks, but it will certainly reduce hunching over to organize piles normally balanced against my leg. may not realize it, but they’re one of the few book truck manufacturers with the right dimensions to store records.

NP: Brainchild - Healing of the Lunatic Owl (England, 1970)

While this album cannot escape the obvious reference to early Chicago’s innovative brass rock, Brainchild drew more from the contemporary proto-prog zeitgeist to add another dimension. Complex horn charts are melded with heavy organ and psychedelic tinged guitar, but it’s the melodic sensibility woven into the dynamic compositions that really makes this memorable. An album that could have only been made in 1970.
