South Ward Councilman Patrick Council and Mayor Ras J. Baraka are scheduled to present a Juneteenth Festival on Saturday, June 17, 2023.

The festival will take place in the South Ward of Newark, New Jersey on Bergen Street between Lyons Avenue and Hawthorne Place starting at 11 a.m. and ending at 7 p.m., organizers said.

This cultural celebration represents the freeing of the last African American people from slavery in Galveston, Texas in 1865.

There will be something for everyone, food, vendors, amusements, performances and carnival rides. Random Access, D.J. Middy and house music producer, DJ Beloved will be delivering some of your favorite hip-hop, club/house music, R&B and afro-beats.

Also, don’t forget to stop in the health and wellness zone. For more information on live performances or vendor opportunities, call 973-733-3753 / 54 or email [email protected].
