Growing up in Appalachia, I learned that you can come from a small place and still dream big.
Dolly Parton was one of the people who taught me that.
She showed me that where you come from doesn’t have to define where you’re going, and that you never have to forget your roots while chasing something bigger.
When I left Appalachia and moved to New York City to pursue my own dreams, I carried that lesson with me. There was fear and uncertainty, but there was also the belief that maybe I really could build the life I imagined.
Dolly’s story has always reminded me to dream bigger, take chances, work hard, stay true to yourself, and never be ashamed of where you came from.
